Michael Johnson.....

Some of the comments on here really do show how poor this forum has become a very real shadow of its self.

It takes a lot of guts to go public and admit your demons and sadly in this case its cost us one of the best prospects ever to come out of our academy for me destined to be the best.

I hope the jokers and the put downers never have to deal with any form of mental health issue within their families as their lack of tact when hiding behind a keyboard is disgusting.

well said mate

Oakie and Kun I agree. There is no need for all this hate and resentment towards him and is quite shocking behaviour. It is such a shame for him, as he was so talented and for me, he would be a regular in our present midfield and for England. You have the world at your feet, then injury after injury ruin your career, and you can fully understand and see why thus, has led to mental health and other issues. Travesty that's all I can say.

I wonder if some of the posters on here would like to be in his situation, some of the comments are a disgrace. Illness is illness and cannot be helped, some folk need to grow up a bit, and realise how bad he is and not slag the poor bloke off.

Its the ignoramuses like Diddyboy, who have no concept about mental illness, nor the way it disabilitates.
Ignorance is bliss, but not in this instance.

Shut up you clown my cousin is bipolar and schizophrenic and has attempted to commit suicide about six times last time we saw each other he came to my house saying that the world was going to end and him killing me and then himself was the only way to save it. His mother has dementia at about 55 years old. My best friend childhood thought people were after him and his girlfriend was one of the spy's so he stabbed her to death. You know nothing about me, my life nor my experiences just like the other insane clown posse you try and provoke reactions from me. To be honest its none of your fucking business but you cross lines with your disrespect. Do not mention my name either. I already said I feel sorry for those with genuine mental health issues but we do not know what issues Johnson has and I personally do not believe they made him drink drive. Now stop your attention seeking bollocks, keep my name out your mouth and stick to the topic.

You're the one who's posted a load of attention-seeking bollocks trying to get a reaction. As you said, we don't know what issues Johnson has therefore you're in no position to make any informed comment. If what you've just posted is true then you know that mental illness and rationality don't usually go together. I certainly don't condone or seek to excuse drink driving but he's been punished for it

So I'd strongly advise you to leave it at that. Ric has already told people to leave out the abuse so you can't say you haven't been warned.

100% spot on.

Some of the name-calling and abuse is ridiculous, you'd think he'd personally offended them or something. Said it earlier in the thread but the amount of hate some of these posters must carry around in their daily lives is unhealthy.

Leave the lad be to get on with his life, it's a real shame how his football career has turned out but not one person knows what's been going on inside his head.

I for one wish him the best of luck in finding happiness doing something else.

I have not abused anyone and my opinion is mine alone. Others have said much worse things than I did yet not a single poster has jumped on their backs. I also said I wish the lad bounces back so where exactly did I post this "attention seeking bollocks" as you say? I do not mention any posters by name nor attack them for their opinions so why should I for mine?

Then when I have the nerve to defend myself you AGAIN accuse me of being the instigator when its clear I was simply responding to personal attacks. I have said my piece on this issue and wish the lad the best in life but none of us know what his mental issues are. I am leaning to more addictive personality and substance abuse hence my comments.

-- Wed Jan 16, 2013 5:58 pm --

Agreed everyone should just leave him alone to live his life. He can still bounce back and be the footballer we all want him to be.

I am so fortunate then.

Strange one for me this.

I'm well acquainted with depression both from my own experiences and others and I always defend in such instances.

And it is genuinely heartening to see so many wish him well because it now transpires that Johnson has suffered from this shit and awful illness in whatever form it took (possibly addiction)

But with Johnson my interpretation - and it is only that - is that there is more to it. Yes he deserves our best wishes but also let's not light any candles for a man who had such an envious gift and opportunity and pissed it up the wall. And someone who - by the accounts of many on here - is a total knob.
