Michael Oliver to ref Liverpool v City - City lodge complaint

I’ve no real issue with Oliver today, He should have booked a few of their players very early on but that’s nit picking.

The penalty is something that a lot of refs aren’t going to give and something we’ve seen across every game for the past few months. The problem is, with var in use, more refs than not are going to let play proceed and allow var to ref it for them.

of course, var have said they won’t re-ref games and so tend to back the refs who are leaning on the side of caution when they perhaps ordinarily wouldn’t because of the ability to use var afterwards. it’s turned into a vicious circle that could easily be rectified if we had adequate standard of officials and wasn’t so completely obsessed with this idea of backing refs regardless.

Look how well var was implemented midweek for our penalty which was a free kick then a penalty, that’s how to use it not the bullshit way we currently have.

Today’s decision lies with var though rather than the ref in my view
They have changed it,for the last 2 rounds of games var have overuled the ref several times

Time and time and time again. Game after game after game. It's becoming tiresome.
Unless we're already 3 up.

Yet again 10 fouls to our 5, yet we finish the game with 2 yellow cards, and they get none. I'd genuinely love to see a breakdown of the number of yellows per foul of each team in the Premier League, because as far as I can tell, this is the pattern every game.

Why do people keep saying this? When your arm is outstretched intention has fuck all to do with it. It's a stonewall pen.
Intention is one of the determining factors, as is the distance between where the ball comes from and where it hits. i.e. Could the player reasonably have moved his arm out of the way? I think it was a penalty, but you could make an argument that it wasn't for both of these reasons. It definitely would have been given in the Champions League though, which is another one of the bullshit inconsistencies we have to deal with.

If you're arm is away from your body intention or distance from the ball doesn't come into it.

No, mate. If your arm is outstretched and you're more than a couple of feet away from the ball then it's a penalty. I'd guess that less than 5% of handballs are truly intentional.

Especially if you tense and straighten the arm when looking at the ball knowing it’s coming at your arm!
