I mean was the PPE up to the required standard you ask?

Required standard....They were buying it from Bury New Road what do you think.

As far as I know, some of it was, some of it wasn't.
I think the company are being pursued to reclaim some of the loot.

I know two lads who during the covid epidemic at its worst who were supplying NHS authority's PPE. One of them told me there were not enough hours in the day and he wished he did not have to sleep so he could go 24 hours as he was earning so much money.
I asked him where he was off to. He answered Bury New Rd where they sell the fake clothes I get my PPE from there for pennies and sell on for pounds to the NHS and off he went in his brand new Range Rover with a Luton van following him to fill with shite PPE from the counterfeit capital of the UK.
You honestly could not make it up. A lot of people made a right few quid through Covid.

I wonder if that's the reason they shut the shithole on bury new rd down finally?

Fair comment, about 35yrs ago I bought some steaks off one of the meat vans that used to frequent Bury New Rd, it was definitely steak but man was it tough, could've been Shergar for all I knew, my dogs loved it.

No they went after it when they started selling fake perscription drugs around there such as Diazepam and Gabapentin. During covid Spice and heroin became hard to find and drug addicts still needed a fix so a market for perscription drugs opened up and it just happened where you could buy fake designer bags and clothes you could also get fake prescription drugs.
That was the final straw it had to go.
Plus Manchester and Salford councils have big plans for around there. They want the prison gone too.

The number of people on the make during covid will be in the millions. Businesses claiming all sorts when they didn’t need it.
The amount of piss taking in the eat out to help out scheme in some quarters was off the scale. There was simply no auditing of the figure that venues were providing.

Really?

Gave his pub landlord a PPE contract.

He still didn’t sign the contracts. However if he applied undue influence then he should be held to account. No question about it.

Hopefully the enquiry will dig into the VIP lane and answer both these questions:

Were the PPE contracts awarded reflective of market value.
Were any of the PPE contracts awarded influenced by political interference, even if that interference was merely because they were placed on the VIP lane.

Like all these things it was probably well intended but abused by some, and in some cases quite possibly for personal gain - and prison should be where those that personally benefited should end up. Those who influenced it so their “mates” could benefit - even if it was fair market value - should be barred from ever serving in public office again or as a company director.

My wife worked as a nurse through the pandemic and while these spivs were raking in cash she was having to use disposable aprons donated by the local butchers, and the nearby high school sent over a box of those classroom science glasses.
