mick mcarthy

I might be wrong but Greece could have got through had they got a (freak) result against the Argies. The Greek manager decided to play really defensive and made 3 subs before the Argies scored, all of which didn't give any further attacking options, even if the game was still 0-0 in the 89th minute they had no outlet apart from Samar-on-his-arse. That's not only 'not having a go', but criminal considering what was at stake in what proved to be Greece's last game of the WC.
McCarthy and Wolves at OT is a completely different scenario.

Leaving the blue connection aside with Mick McCarthy, does anyone else agree with me that he is a knob.

He's full of shit, and he is dour and boring as fook as a co commentator/pundit

I agree, he talks some right shite, he's so irritating. He also wanks over some players based purely on who they are rather than how they're playing, it's a bit cringeworthy.

At the swamp it wasn't a group game in a world cup for starters
So you're effectively saying manager's should pick and choose which Premier League games they want to win? Bizzarre!

Regardless of if it's a World Cup qualifier or a Sunday afternoon kick-a-bout, you want your team to win. McCarthy, in doing what he did, and for whatever reason, effectively gifted the rags 3 points. Then for him to come out and publicly criticise a national team for not having a go is hypocritical to say the least.

Most un-inspiring voice in football. Offers nothing to the game that the average person doesn't already know. Commentator, "Mick, why do you think he's made this substitution?"... McCarthy, "because he's the manager, he can do what he likes." Mick, you are a tree of knowledge.

what happened at old trafford mick?
This is exactly what pissed me off with him last night. Regardless of the fact that he was once a Chosen One, he's a hypocritical, dour, monotonous bore. Criticising them for not 'having a go' and 'refusing to come out and play', and yet encourages his own team to do exactly that at the swamp.

Sorry Mick, but you shot yourself in the foot there.

No he didn't.

Wolves' aim was to stay in the Prem. They achieved it, helped hugely by some decent peformances after resting players at OT.

Greeces aim was to progress to the 2nd round. They failed.

It is hypocritical but he effectively kept wolves up from making tough decisions like that one which he was awarded with another year in the prem!!

to claim that mccarthy was justified in his team selection at wolves underlines everything wrong in football.

for the long term good of wolverhampton wanderers of what benefit is it for the manager to select weakened sides, it would alienate many fans who believe in the games integrity, and the belief, no matter how little, that wolves can win every game.

also if i was sponsoring the premier league under whatever guise, be it sky, then i would be witholding some of wolves money, no company would want to be linked with a team effectively throwing games.

also what about the 3000 woves fans paying up to 50 quid to go to old trafford only to have the own manager take the piss out of them

if any city manager did that, i would want him sacked in an instant
