I know a few guys who would be classed as fucking mental, but who are really nice guys. They only become mental when they are in “business mode”, and if you don’t act like a prick with them you will have no problem with them.
When I was a nipper I used to go for the shopping for one of our old neighbours who had been not well, I continued even after she got better and wouldn’t take any money. One day our door went and it was one of her sons who had moved to his own place. I didn’t know anything about him really but he thanked me and gave me a fiver for looking out for his mum.
A decade later I was in our local Friday night DJ night and chatting up this girl and two guys not locals, obviously took exception to this. I didn’t notice a thing. Anyway, I was back chatting to my mate when two guys, ashened faced came up to me and apologised for growling at me. I hadn’t a fucking clue what they were talking about. They told me mr fiver had told them to.
Someone I know told he he was in the loo and the two guys came in with mr fiver right behind them who told them what they were doing wasn’t a good idea. Only in stronger terms.
When I was told this I looked over at him and he smiled and lifted his pint.
Moral of the story, be kind to old people. :)

Always good for pretty much any ticket. Remember seeing him outside the swamp one derby flogging tickets and he admitted that the only reason he did it was to fleece the red shite. He said they come over on the planes without tickets, spend a bit of money in the club shop and then at 2.55 without a ticket he pops up and flogs one for £30 to them (this was late 80's from memory so a lot of money in those days) Happy days for him. Think he set up a travel agent business in Rusholme but it was just a front for his ticket touting. Played for and managed the legendary Astro FC who won pretty much everything in their time and went unbeaten for years
