Middle East Conflict

So how do folk over here highlight to our goverment that we're kinda not happy with them supporting another goverment blowing tens of thousands of children to smithereens?
They need to find other ways, petitions, local MPs etc..

Half of the knobheads out each weekend have no idea what they are actually protesting about and dont know the facts. its important to stress that this applies to both sides. I include groups like the EDL in this as well.

Had enough of seeing this every weekend and the wife and kids feeling scared of going into their own city centre.

I don’t know how seriously Israel is discussed in other parliaments but it’s regularly a hot topic in Ireland’s, Dáil Éireann.
France’s Black’s Occupied Territory bill is currently the hot topic of discussion but has been watered down by the government not to include services only goods produced in the Occupied Territories territory of the West Bank.
I know not a lot on here will have any time for Mary Lou McDonald, but is she wrong?
TBH she is reflecting the opinion of the public here in Ireland.
And we are aware we are only a drop in the ocean regarding trade with Israel, but the hope is it motivates further action from other EU countries.
Here she articulates why action not words, are needed.

So Israel are killing on average 50 civilians a day mostly queuing for food.

Why are they doing this as it will take an awfully long time to depopulate Gaza like this?
And why is there not more criticism from the UK and Europe?

Hostages apparently.

Israel will be shitting it for the next Carpetright sale...

So you disagree with people's fundamental right to protest in a free, democratic country???

The pro-Israeli groups are supporting genocide. Isn't that violent?
Are they physically attacking the police ?

The pro Palestinian side is full of violent individuals hiding faces in masks and physically assaulting police.

You don’t need violence to protest it detracts from the point people are making.

Protesters attempt to block roads, seven arrested.

According to police reports, after the main protest ended, a group of demonstrators began marching along unauthorized routes, clashing with officers and breaching police barriers. The demonstration was subsequently declared illegal.

What is it that you’re scared of?

Ahh yea true

The violent group that "forced its way through the police line" earlier this year springs to mind - a real menace to society and it was only right that the met police came down hard on them and called them in for questioning:

The violent, tErRorIST jIhaDI jEw HAtinG MuzLIms were lead by John mcdonnell (mp, 73 years of age), Jeremy corbyn (mp 75 years old), and worst of all - a particularly aNTi SemItIC terRorist called Stephen Kapos, who is 87 years old and, err, a Holocaust survivor.

He was dragged in for questioning:

"He told Byline Times the police lines “melted away” as they proceeded, and suggests the police may have deliberately created a situation to entrap protesters into committing technical breaches."

The met police is occupied by the Israeli lobby and often acts in the best interests of this foreign country that is currently committing genocide, whose leading officials have arrest warrants from the ICC, and who murder British civilians simply for their own entertainment and knowing that there will be zero repurcussions or accountability

Is there something wrong with your keyboard and caps lock?

For the gullible "HaMAs aRE sHOoTIng tHEiR oWN pEOple" morons.

Israeli source:

"IDF officers and soldiers told Haaretz they were ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near food distribution sites in Gaza, even when no threat was present. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, prompting the military prosecution to call for a review into possible war crimes"

They really have turned Gaza into a real life Squid Game:

"According to him, "I'm not aware of a single instance of return fire. There's no enemy, no weapons." He also said the activity in his area of service is referred to as Operation Salted Fish – the name of the Israeli version of the children's game "Red light, green light"."

Sunak just wasn't very good at his job. But to think that any multi-millionaire (billionaire?) goes into politics for the money, is just bonkers.
That's the thing that peasants like us will never understand mate, WHY do billionaires just want more and more and more? It's not just the money, its the power, the money is just a means to get that. Look at Musk for example, they are ego-maniacs who want power and control, money is the root to that so they want more and are never satisfied. I can't for a minute believe Sunak went into politics to be a good guy, maybe once upon a time (even that i feel hard to believe, listening to him talking about working class people when he was younger).

Have you thought of starting a petition or sending a strongly worded email to your MP?

Is it? Are they? Got anything to back that up?

You're probably right. It's like a drug that these people get hooked on. I know a guy who at his peak was worth $10bn (much less now since the company he founded declined and ultimate got bought) but he is still absolutely MINTED. He used to pay himself $200m/year.

And yet here's the whacky thing: Even at his peak when he was worth $10bn, he worked harder than anyone I knew, drove a old Toyota Camry and when in London stayed in a bog-standard room at the Hilton on Park Lane.

If I had 1/100th of his money, I would be (a) retired long, long ago. (b) be driving Ferraris and got knows what else, and (c) having the penthouse suite when I stayed in town.

EDIT: Just reflect on that for 1 moment. $100bn is 100 x $100m. Someone with $100m 100 times over, still driving a Toyota and staying in a crappy hotel room. And working his nuts off. Bonkers, utterly bonkers. Admittedly he did take a helicopter into London from Heathrow because it was quicker and easier!

This also sets apart billionaires from millionaires.

My cousin has done really well for himself, about 15 years ago he started a tool hire business so nothing special but he was only interested in expanding it. I won't mention the name but his business now has something like 10 depots alongside the other stuff they do so it's not massive however he must be doing really well.

The last time we spoke he said his main goal now was to sell the business by the time he hits 60 and that's him done. Given its turnover it's probably worth something like £5-10m so he'll retire very happy. After that he wants to live in Spain and just do things like goto sports events and enjoy life etc.

Billionaires don't do things like this, they are obssessives who just so happen to hit something at the right time but then they reinvest the money and still take risks. Branson is a good example. Branson made nearly £600m from selling Virgin Music and he used that to keep Virgin Atlantic going alongside managing all the other Virgin businesses and he's still going at 74. He could have just retired in his late 40s and enjoyed life but enjoyment probably means something different to him.

I suppose once you surpass £1bn it really doesn't matter about the next billion and the money stops meaning anything. It's then that you have to find other things to do, maybe even buy a football team or maybe get involved in politics. Some I guess just stick with their businesses but they never stop.

It's probably an Alpha Male/Power thing that most of us do not understand. The world has always been shaped and ruled by the most powerful Alpha Males. The rest of us seem to spend our time discussing the actions of these Alpha Males who tend to be ruthless, decisive and able to focus on what they want rather than worry and debate what is morally fair. Different breed to most of us.

Completely off topic but I watched a podcast the other day, people don't seem to think there's a big difference between a millionaire and a billionaire..if you counted to a million it would take 11/12 days,if you counted to a billion it would take 32 years..I think a millionaire has more in common with the average man than a billionaire.
