Middle East Conflict

Of course it is, however one can not argue that the degree of suppression of the Palestinian people has not got something to do with it

No doubt but I believe the bigger issue here is the fact Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are an enemy that isn’t really interested in the odd settlement, its sole aim is the destruction of Israel and the deaths of all Jews.

They even go so far as to put that into writing.

How do you begin to try and make peace with that sort of ideology?

I think everyone can see that and people also (should at least) realise that Israel obviously has to act in response to it. I haven’t seen anyone on here actually justifying hamas or anything. There’s a difference between reasons and excuses though and unless the former is fully understood, then that is what creates the never ending cycle. Those reasons don’t just start with the direct act, that’s in part why there’s so many Israelis angry at Netanyahu too.

It’s also knowing that depending how Israel react, particularly if they do decide to remove Hamas completely, is going to be pivotal to whether another even worse version with even more angry and violent members spawns in its wake.
I tend to agree, but this feels different. The nature of the attack and the decision by Hamas to largely target civilians in the manner it did has probably been a tipping point for Israel. Coupled with the hostage taking they will feel they have no choice but to act accordingly. The ramifications will be considered or dealt with later. Right now the Israeli's will want their people back and also to exact revenge. I feel for the innocents and civilians because this will be an extremely brutal affair.

Yes I agree. I just hope they have a plan that goes beyond just the retribution stage though as if they don’t, then it just gets even worse. I completely get Israel’s response and also those that see it purely in the confines of what’s happened in the last week. If it’s not looked at beyond that too though, it’s just going to happen again. It’ll need a completely different plan for Gaza and that needs to involve rethinking whether to continue to treat it as an open air prison.

And that revenge is going to be the loss of life on an unimaginable level. Probably Tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians will be slaughtered under these illegal attacks.

Now, the Israeli PM's office has officially confirmed that babies and toddlers were decapitated by Hamas fighters.

Exactly innocent Palestinians are simply pawns
