Middle East Conflict

Only spent two days in Europe (Brussels) this week and tried to watch as much coverage as possible. Amazing to see how quickly the news has turned to Israeli aggression being too tough on civilian areas….where the rockets are coming from!

I know Europe is rapidly becoming more and more Muslim, but even BBC Newswatch had an entire segment on why they were not saying the word “terrorist” and calling it the “Israel-Gaza Conflict.”

The level of genuflection towards being as politically “correct” as possible was eye-opening.
Becoming more Muslim? Now there’s an EDL trope if ever I saw one, that Europe has a Muslim population no doubt but they don’t influence the law or the everyday lives of people the vast majority just get on with their lives, as do the majority we really can do without this type shit on here

An honest Tory. Who'd of thought that.

I really don’t get the amount of talk around the bbc not describing them as terrorists. Neither are Sky or ITN, it’s a long standing editorial edict they’ve followed.

Al of them have journalists on the ground in some of the most dangerous areas in the world, interviewing people from both sides of the conflict and their content is consumed internationally as well. Part of why they are able to do that and their reporting is respected as much as it is (internationally still at least, seems theres a lot of people here that think they should just be a government mouthbox) is due to that impartiality.

It’s not political correctness, it is and always been just decent journalism and I’d strongly argue treating viewers as if they still have a modicum of intelligence themselves.

Their reporting on both this and Russia Ukraine throughout too has been superb and they’ve all put the print media to shame (again).

"Crispin Blunt, who is co-director of a pro-Palestinian group...".

Well he's a neutral, honest broker isn't he? And as for honest, he married his wife knowing he was gay, then eventually came out when they separated. But he was a pretty consistent opponent of gay rights before then, so I'm not entirely sure 'honest' is the best word to describe him.

Once Israel starts its ground offensive in Gaza, will Hezbollah and the PIJ (who have joined up on the Lebanon-Israel border) attack from the North?

BBC News just said that Israelis close to the border are living in safe rooms and bomb shelters as well as others evacuating further South as there have been exchanges in fire already.

Could do with a big fuck off asteroid hitting..it might just stop humans killing each other, but I doubt it. Time for a few bottles of vino..roll on city next week

Things seem to be hotting up in the north (where most of the people I know live) it’s up the Americans to cool this down now, it could spiral out of control, for one the rhetoric needs to be turned down a few notches, cooler heads need to prevail or this going to turn into fire that will burn everything
