Middle East Conflict

And the hostage situation? Any suggestions on that?
They could go the diplomatic route through US/Qatar to get the hostages released. But no, that would make Israel or their government look weak. So they would rather kill tens of thousands of civilians, force a million people people to forgo their homes in 24 hours to look strong.

I do not condone what Hamas did, no innocent life should be lost. But what Israel are doing is far worse already.

Not a lot of evidence of the rape claims so far.

I'm not saying it's not happened, of course. But people were very quick to share numerous unverified claims during the attack. Beheaded children, widespread rape, etc, all without evidence. The one I saw was the woman who had apparently been raped because she had blood on her pants, which to me was a much evidence that she'd sat down in a pool of blood as anything else. Not that it makes it much better, of course. Still a hideous attack on innocent people.

Come on? Kidnapped women and literal videos of them being taken on bikes full of blokes back into Gaza?

If people want to convince themselves that "it hasn't happened because I haven't seen videos of it" then food luck to you. I'm sure if some of the hostages get released they can tell us anyway.

Have you seen the number of people kidnapped who were women? Multiple teenagers, but I'm sure they are in a grade accomodation.
I don't want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I'm almost certain that someone has suffered rape in this whole mess, but there are other reasons that they would deliberately target women and children. Firstly, they're easier to overpower and control. And secondly, they act as stronger collateral. People have a stronger emotional reaction to missing women and children than they do men. So hopefully, that's the reason. But as I say, it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt to a bunch of terrorist cunts.

Reports of a hostage - prisoner swap proposition floating about. Hope something comes of it quickly.

What would you expect to be different if they were being kidnapped for reasons other than rape? A nice air-conditioned bus?

I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that there isn't yet any evidence that it has. And that's according to the IDF themselves. The claims of 'rape dungeons' are entirely of your own making. It might even be true, but at least admit that you're just guessing at this point.

Presumably Hamas supporters will be doing everything they can to blend in with the crowds.

Its exactly what the terrorist cowards do.

Happy in the knowledge that innocent civilians, often not allowed to get away from them for fear of their lives will end up as collateral damage which they then use as part of their PR war on Israel.

Not at all -but your Hamas foot soldier involved in this episode is determined to wipe Israel off the Map in line with the anti Jewish teaching going on in Gaza over the years
“Your Hamas foot soldier” I hope that is said as a figure of speech.
And Israel is actually wiping Palestine off the map slowly. Not just saying it.

We're constantly told that Hamas want to wipe Israel off the map. But I don't think the Israeli leadership think too differently. They are playing a long game.

As for tactics, I'd like to know how the Palestinians are supposed to fight a stronger army who possess overwhelming military hardware.

Just like you don’t choose your blood relatives, You don’t choose your neighbour. If your neighbour committed a murder, you wouldn’t just accept to become collateral damage.

It is doable if that's your aim, using guerrilla tactics. The Vietnamese managed it for decades against France and then the USA. Unfortunately, Hamas seem to have the same attitude to Palestinian citizens that Israel do, and have little issue hiding within them hoping that Israel will magically start to give a shit about civilian casualties.
