Middle East Conflict

Only Trump of all nations ecery recognises it as anything but annexed occupied land that should be returned to Syria.

Syria need to gaurentee they will never use it to stage an attack as per UN legislation, if they do Israel should return it.
Do you seriously think such a guarantee will ever be worth the paper it woukd be printed on?
Wow.

We're still trying to work out who did this etc.

This refusal to acknowledge the culprits follows on from the Reuters response to one of their journalists being 'killed' and the craven statement by the AB of C after the church bombing the other night.

Just another example of the power imbalance in this conflict.

That would be the Syria that's left of Syria? What "guarantee" could Assad give Israel? I'm against permanent occupation of territory captured in war (at the heart of the problem) but the best anyone could hope for re the Golan Heights would be a demilitarised zone. It's not exactly the immediate problem.

you have to read the conversation in the context of my original post about the region, someome singled out the GH bit as a response, Gaza is the present issue, but long term a regional solution needs to be mapped out

I appreciate that, but the Golan Heights are not occupied Palestinian territory.

You'd proposed a three-state solution, one of which would be a Palestinian West Bank, but for that Israel would need to unoccupy illegal settlements. That's the immediate problem (one of them).

When between 10% and 20% of Hamas/PIJ rockets are known to misfire with many landing in Gaza maybe those responsible for the deaths are not quite so easy to identify and it is likely that there may be more than one ‘culprit’.

How much longer before Iran and hezbolah join in
If Israel starts a proper ground invasion which will tie up a lot of the reserves and logistics, there’s about 30,000 Hamas fighters, which is a hell of a lot, estimated to be 300,000 Israelis on the border most of them reserves but not all of them will be fighting units, Iran has a huge army but not that well trained and motivated, apart from the Revolutionary Guards, rumour is that whole region is awash with Noryh Korean hardware,
