Middle East Conflict

I'm not so sure because if it was that simple then why isn't there peace already and why has there never been peace for 80 years? This isn't a simple case of there was peace and happiness until Israel took some land and now there's war.

The vast majority of the Muslim world has never recognised Israel in any shape or form, countries like Iran have the literal policy to obliterate Israel. It's laughable to say that a Jewish state would somehow come to exist under the regime of these countries. If it wasn't for western support then Israel would of been destroyed and many Jewish people living there would probably have fled to the west.

A good question is why can't Palestinians absorb into Israel under one state? Many already do and Israel is not a secular state? The answer is obvious but then it's pretty hypocritical to then inflict the same question on Jewish people who would otherwise have to live in an Islamic country.
I honestly don’t know, with the total polarisation of stances in the region.
With the present protagonists, it’s hard to see any peaceful solution.
You can choose a side and say we’re right, but see where that gets you.

See the video I last posted. What I’m finding an eye opener is that, despite the pro Israeli supporting views in here, some of which are obviously Jewish. There is a difference between Jewish views within Israel and the broader world.

I think we get polarised in here and narrow things down to a simple, they did this, which caused us to do that, argument. We are right. But there are and was always much wider issues influencing world politics and it affects us all.

Well we got really close to peace and then Israeli ultranationalists killed Rabin, and the new Netenyahu ran Israel poured a shit ton of money into the Palestinian Islamist mosques to disrupt the PLO regime and Yasser Arafat that had signed the Oslo Accords leading to the rise of Hamas and their religious zealotry instead.

Isn't that technically a civil war ( with many proxies. ) that split a country?

I thought it was some post WW2 carve up between the US and Russian’s. Both the north and south thought they were the rightful government of Korea so had a straightener a few years later which achieved nowt. Been a model of peace and tranquility ever since…

I should teach history.

So should Hamas really. You sense the last couple of weeks have put peace beyond the reach for another generation at least, I won’t be around to witness it I can’t see.

Where is the worlds spiritual successor to Mo Mowlam when you need someone to bang heads together?

Not saying he was wrong, but you could equally apply the reasoning to Hamas.
They just recruited a nation hell bent on revenge.

And they are capable and will commit atrocities equal and worse than the IRA did.
