Hamas's 2017 policy statement hasn't abrogated the 1988 charter but it was not advocating genocide. Their proposal was an Islamic country in which Muslims, Jews and Christians would live free to practice their faith (so probably more liberal than Saudi Arabia). It might be wildly unrealistic (and rejects a two-state solution) but it's better than advocating genocide.

While they're not admitting the atrocities of October 7th, some of the leaders seem to want to be distanced from it. Small comfort, I know, but maybe also a small glimmer of hope in what looks hopeless. Maybe.

Really?- you probably do as you said it but most demonstrating and many social media warriors don't.
I don't think there is a solution. Not one with Hamas allowed to control Gaza anyway.

I can't believe anyone would believe in all honesty and sincerity that a single state solution between Jews and Palestinians would be anything other than a bloodbath.

From what I have read on here the only solution would be to move Israel somewhere else, it's a nightmare.

Palestinians do not come from a militant culture.

Palestinian culture is traditionally rural and they share many of the values of Jews, the importance of family life, religious observance and generosity within their community.

Jews are not traditionally a militant culture either. Israeli militancy is a product of the Holocaust and Zionism.

But that militancy means that Jews around the world with no connection to Israel are more likely to encounter violence and discrimination.

And that simply isn't fair. The solution is to end apartheid.

My point is that people are trying to disassemble Israel into a secular state to solve the problem. But you are not solving the problem, you are creating something that nobody wants and telling both to stop killing each other and to just live with it.

The Palestinians want their own Islamic state, they do not want a secular state. Jewish people want their own Jewish state, they do not want a secular state.

What actually has this got to do with Israel? Do you think that Jewish people want to see Israel become a secular state? Of course they don't, they have a right to self-determination and a single secular state removes that right. Israel exists because of that and it will continue to exist.

I mention other Muslim states because they have their own right to self-determination however some on here are more inclined to protect that. Since when did anyone call for the reorganisation of Iran or Saudi Arabia to house Jewish people, the mere suggestion would actually be blasphemy in those countries! It's just ironic really.

Do Jewish people want a secular state? I always thought it was founded as a secular state. Half the Jews in Israel are "hiloni" (secular) and not observant (maybe great festivals). Can you be a Jewish theocratic state and be a democracy?

Or by Jewish state do you mean a country only for Jews?

It's amazing they have all this evidence what Hamas have been doing for the last 3 weeks. Yet for Two years Hamas was planning the abhorrent massacre on Israel and they never had a clue.
