Middle East Conflict

I agree it is a shame. But that doesn't change what's required today.

If you raise a cub in the city ( very dumb idea, agreed) and then it's start maiming people in the City when it got older. Sure, it was dumb and irresponsible to have raised a wild animal in the City. But now that it's loose and killing people, the goal is to neutralize it before it causes any more damage.

Did you raise this hypothetical cub in the full knowledge it would kill? But you still helped it get big and strong anyway? Because if so you should probably go to prison.

No. I think you can render Hamas or any terror organization practically ineffective. It's like someone with HIV who has taken drugs to suppress the virus into remission. So much so that you can't even detect the HIV in blood samples.

That, you haven't gotten rid of the virus entirely is wholely irrelevant. What's relevant is that it's practically ineffective. And that is achievable with a serious attack.

Terrorist are not superhuman or special. Let's stop ascribing nonhuman qualities to them.

I agree with you on targeted assassination in Qatar. But like I said, a multifaceted approach is best and most effective.
You think they can eliminate or degrade Hama and neutralise them, it would be at a cost of 1000s of innocent lives, I can tell you now the US won’t want to pay the price, for every civilian death the stronger Iran gets and more influence they have on the street, it’s a perfectly set trap set for Israel and America the message the Arab and Muslim street is getting is their lives don’t matter, if you care to read any media from around the region this the message, to them one country is trying to help defend them it’s a cauldron at the moment and it could explode

When Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, there was no discussion of proportionality until Japan surrendered.
Same thing happened when Hitler attacked Britain.
Sadam was bombed back to the stone age in order to get him out of Kuwait.
These are all materially different. They each involved a sovereign state attacking another, where there was a semblance of equality of arms. Maybe not with Iraq vs Kuwait (and how much did that invasion change the course of human history?) but otherwise there was a genuine threat to the functioning existence of the attacked nations.

This attack by Hamas earlier this month represented no such thing. Not of itself. Absolutely ridiculous to suggest it did.

Which undermines your proportionality point somewhat.

I think this will create more tension within the Labour Party. Andy McDonald has been suspended and it’s clear Starmer is taking a guilty until proven innocent approach.
McDonald has a very safe seat he could put another Blair Foundation disciple in rather than a proper "lefty". I've met Andy at various union conferences and he's not one of Sir Keir's biggest fans.

"In 1944, the Royal Air Force bombed the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen. It’s a perfectly legitimate target, but the British pilots missed. And instead of the Gestapo headquarters, they hit a children’s hospital nearby. And I think 84 children were badly burned to death. That is not a war crime. That is not something you blamed Britain for doing."

Benjamin Netanyahu, during press questions today. Does he have a point?

RAF operation below.

"Part of the raid was mistakenly directed against a nearby school; the raid caused 125 civilian deaths (including 86 schoolchildren and 18 adults at the school)."

No. Obviously not.

It’s such a tragic situation for all the parties involved, I do blame the Americans for taking their eyes off the situation, believing it could be managed by hi tech fences and increased brutality, they looked the other way and they are now caught between a rock and a hard place, they know their reputation has been damaged, they know this just gives Iran more influence in the region

What’s needed is cool pragmatic heads there are over 2 million people in Gaza, with the sanitation system broken there could be an outbreak of cholera, on top of all the destruction

The sociopath terrorist bastards doing what they do with impunity:

Where are all the bastions of morality and ethics that stand with Israel with their condemnation of these terrorist attacks?
