I believe a lot more IDF than usual were deployed in the West Bank, and that along with reservists protesting against Netanyahu’s government left them undermanned down south. Netanyahu had prioritised supporting settlers above protecting normal Israelis. Once this is over he should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty along with his other crimes.

Really poor if that is the case.

Because tragically it’s what a lot of people want.

Netanyahu and the more far right Israelis, Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Russia, lots of Americans….there’s a lot of people who either don’t care or simply want a full scale conflict to erupt.

Unfortunately this is what I happen to believe also.

It needs strong minds on all sides to stop it from being one.

I think it's telling that Biden is offering support but also told Netanyahu not to overstep the mark. As in taking advantage of the situation to grab more land from Palestine.

I don’t know the ins and outs of current American policy on this, but am only glad Trump isn’t the current president.

Sorry but I don’t agree. This is a small segment of the Muslim faith that believe anyone that isn’t Muslim deserves to die and to make that happen, they are willing to die themselves as martyrdom is some sort of guaranteed path to heaven for them.

You don’t issue decrees that you will not rest until Israel is wiped off the map and all Jews killed because of a land dispute or settlement if you are in any way normal.

ISIS and radicals like Hamas and co are a scourge in the human race. There is nothing anyone can do to please them, nothing. No negotiations are ever going to change their warped view of the world which they are willing to kill for to see.

Israel and its population are under threat, they have seen first hand what Hamas will do and they have every right to now go all out to destroy them.

They will be doing the world a favour in doing so and they will be doing the vast majority of peaceful and more moderate Palestinians a favour as well.

Their are international laws and rules of engagement in a war, for very good reasons.
If Israel truly wish to claim the moral high ground they should act within the internationally recognised framework.
Unfortunately revenge and the claim of the moral high ground as justification, tends to just give the excuse to your own people to act every bit as barbarically as what they claim they abhor.
Innocent Israeli people were slaughtered. Revenge will take the form of innocent Palestinian people being slaughtered tenfold.

All this will be done in the pursuit of Hamas, apparently which is the excuse for the moral high ground.

All this will do is escalate the situation.

It really is depressing.
