Trying to sum up today's thread to and fro, this seems to be a common theme. The violence started in the civil war of 1947/8 prior to the 1948 Israel Arab war.
It’s possible it could have fizzled out in the civil war and there were plenty of moderates on both sides. It’s correct to say that Israel was attacked by hostile Arab states under the banner of the Arab league and initially Israel suffered a few defeats before they could arm themselves effectively. The irony is I don’t think Palestine Arabs had much of a dog in this fight as they didn’t have any regular units.
Well, there's always satire on Israeli TV...Just when you thought the depressing reports from the Israel/Gaza couldn't get any worse, along comes the BBC's Fergal Keane. He always looks so miserable and depressed while delivering his report in a funerial tone.
I read your originalI've commented on this sect and their views before. Here: https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/israel-palestine-conflict.334241/page-341
The TL:DR version is that they're an extremist sect who believe only god can gift Israel back to the Jews, which he will do when the Messiah comes. But even then, it will only be true believers like them who'll be allowed to live there.
Everyone else - you, me, everyone else on this forum - god will destroy. And that includes the Palestinians of course.
