If I recall correctly, Costa Rica's is ensured by the US and Canada; Nicaragua got a bit menacing on the border, and announced that they would invade the day after on some pretext.
The day after they looked at the US and Canadian helicopter gunships that had materialised overnight and were lounging casually just in case they were needed, and decided better of it.

So they did need an army then, only it was someone else's.

Yikes….

As someone who has only ever been a distant observer of the conflict, in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attack, all my sympathies were with Israeli people. Now, as the 'war' is going on for more than a month now, its shifted to the innocent civilians of Palestine. I don't think I am alone in that regard. If Israel were to shift more towards extreme right, they can't then complain if more of the rest of the world moves against them.
