He was wiping the tears away, gotta love that man. Always has the time to speak to fans before and after games and he bleeds blue.

He's an old softie - in comparison to his time in the 60s where he didn't mind doling out and taking a kicking!
What's that modern saying; ''he could look after himself''!

Even to his own players!

I seem to remember he had a few barneys with City players and MAY have come to blows with Franny Lee at one point(?). I was pretty young at the time, so my memory is hazy, but it was on the Kippax side of Maine Road in the Platt Lane End half of the field but just over the halfway line, IIRC.

Top man. Dad used to buy shirts from him!

He's a fan and he lives the roller coaster like the rest of us, with a love of the club.

He's fantastic and the "tweets" from him, Franny Lee and, to be fair, Rodney Marsh have been willing the club this week with, what seems, a real sincere affinity.

Saw him make his debut at Ayresome Park on the opening day of the 65/66 season.
He was an ever present that year, in the side that won the Div.2 title.
Prior to that had scored for Swindon in a 2-1 win at Maine Road, before City's lowest ever crowd of 8015. Alan Oakes netted for us. YES I was there.
A genuine City icon, who has always had the club close to his heart.
Great guy to have in your camp. And as hard as nails. Think it was Franny Lee who once said, Mike likes to get his retaliation in first !!

Summerbee, true City legend. Was nice to hear Quinn refer to City as 'we' during the commentary, not sure why Sky let him commentate when he is so obviously biased but it makes a refreshing change from the **** that is Tyler.

Was looking for a corporate package a couple of years ago for a company I was working for. Rang City and left my phone number. Fuck me Mike Summerbee rang me back!! I couldnt get my words out. He was the poster on my bedroom wall when I was 10 and he was on the blower! Rang my Dad as soon as I got off the phone. I was 40 at the time and totally star struck. Cracking guy blue to the core and sticks up for us at every turn. Great to see him just as commited today as he was when he was storming down the wing.

I was 18 he was Mike Summerbee at the height of his career in partnership with George Best. I worked as a draughtsman at a well known shirt material manufacturers. He turns up at reception. Call comes up Tony can you accompany Mr Summerbee to sales. Everyone knew I lived for City, he turned up in my favourite car Triumph Stag. He said and behaved liked my hero, He always will be. I love him, he is City and so am I

You answered yoour own query i think bud. Now i am not signed up to the bluemoon conspiracy cult but i will say that Tyler is terrible.

Niall will give us steam if we deserve it but only if we deserve it.
Like against trafford he was going nuts at the end telling them almost to get up and track back.

Now though think of Burley, Waddle etc all pro utd or at least anti city and you can see how sky have seen the light.
Now we are not going away and top dogs they need a pro blue or soon after they start losing subscribers if it is tolop sided.

Even my dad who is a lifelong scummer was laughing at Tyler saying "your bloke Quinn spent the whole match having to reply to Tyler to set him straight, that was a debate not commentary"

Yeah seen him wiping away the tears, he was sat with his missus (cougar) Buzzer must have been reminiscing about St.James' 1968 as well. I love him for sticking it to them Sky twats and fighting our corner.

That wasn't Buzzer's wife.

He is still married to Tina, Nicky's mum, and she is about the same age as Mike.

I tweeted Buzzer after the game to ask him if he thinks Tony Book will be at the game next week. He couldn't confirm. I really hope Tony is at the Etihad next week.

A crying shame Mike Doyle and Neil Young won't be there.

Fair enough. She looks a lot younger than Mike and a lot younger than in the photos in his autobiography'

But my main point was, there is nothing cougar about Mike.

The North East Blues had the pleasure of Buzzer's company (as well as Brian Marwood & Bernard Halford) on Saturday evening & he didn't disappoint. Fascinating evening & he was a true gentleman through & through. Even the Mackem wife liked him :)
