I tweeted Buzzer after the game to ask him if he thinks Tony Book will be at the game next week. He couldn't confirm. I really hope Tony is at the Etihad next week.

A crying shame Mike Doyle and Neil Young won't be there.

Its a shame but its an even bigger shame that my old man wont be either but I will be shouting for both of us!

Good on you, Blue.

Saw him make his debut at Ayresome Park on the opening day of the 65/66 season.
He was an ever present that year, in the side that won the Div.2 title.
Prior to that had scored for Swindon in a 2-1 win at Maine Road, before City's lowest ever crowd of 8015. Alan Oakes netted for us. YES I was there.
A genuine City icon, who has always had the club close to his heart.
Great guy to have in your camp. And as hard as nails. Think it was Franny Lee who once said, Mike likes to get his retaliation in first !!

great post..... from another radcliffe blue.....

They will be mate in the hearts of every blue in the ground and around the world. Especially us old twats who were lucky enough to see them in thir pomp.
My old fella used to call the halfway line "Stop off at Mikes" cos no-one got past Doyle.

Summerbee, true City legend. Was nice to hear Quinn refer to City as 'we' during the commentary, not sure why Sky let him commentate when he is so obviously biased but it makes a refreshing change from the **** that is Tyler.
Indeed. Like to think it balances it out.

The North East Blues had the pleasure of Buzzer's company (as well as Brian Marwood & Bernard Halford) on Saturday evening & he didn't disappoint. Fascinating evening & he was a true gentleman through & through. Even the Mackem wife liked him :)
And by the way, the last q. I asked at the Q&A was a score prediction...Halford & Marwood went with 2-0. Buzzer went with 3-2...just to make us sweat a bit !

I don't know if it was on his home debut, but the ball ran over the touch line, on the Kippax side, BUZZER ran after it, as it ran out and we saw him mouth the word "Bastard", the Kippax gave a loud cheer we all had the same thought "He's the same as us".In the match programme, the writer from the Daily Express wrote that Mike was certain to be an outstanding & a popular player at Maine road. That turned out to be really prophetic

Mike Summerbee's a brilliant guy , you could clearly see he was both getting 'choked up' , and feeling immensely proud , all rolled into one .... so many memories of 1968 must have come flooding back to him , and he's as 'blue' as any of us.

MIKE SUMMERBEE is a true CITY LEGEND AND ALWAYS STICKS UP 4 CITY TOP MAN.IS WIFE LOOKS VERY GOOD 4 HER AGE AND ALSO PUTTING UP WITH CITY MOST OF HER LIFE AND ALSO HER SON WHO ALSO PLAYED FOR CITY NOT QUITE THE LEGEND MIKE WAS 4 MANCHESTER CITY

I love Summerbee, as many have said - a true blue and the way he stuck it to the Sky tossers was brilliant.

Everytime I see him though I have a nightmare - 2 to 3 years ago, I nearly knocked him down in my car going through Wilmslow. I can still see his frozen face as I slam my brakes on. Fuckin' ell.

That's Tina sat next to him and she look's absolutely stunning for her age I must admit. I'm not old enough to have seen Buzzer play in the flesh but have watched many videos down the years of him scoring (and setting up goals).

The goal at Maine Road against Tottenham at the start of the 1971-72 season is a favourite.
