Just seen the Manchester Marvels article on Sky Sports, it ended up as I predicted, 9 of the 11 players were United ones from the Sky Sports era and the other 2 were Bobby Charlton and Denis Law. It was voted for by Sky Sports website visitors so was always going to end up like that. Kind of demonstrates United fans though, football didn't start until 1992 you know.....

From not a City fan point, it became slightly sad towards the end. Think you should just sort of have to respect what's being talked about and get on with it. Nothing wrong with what they were talking about, it would of been the same had Tevez done it and City won 1-2 and the same thing would of been said by me about Yorke had he then sort of started have a mini rant.

I don't like Holloway and think most of his rants are pathetic and just media attention seeking. I don't think Summerbee is like that, I think he was just a passionate City fan not bitter but upset and gutted but sometimes I think you just need to be professional.

you do know that sky have re done their stats and show City as having more possession !! Its on this thread... He was right.

Having been at the match I Sky+d it and watched it later. I thought he showed pride in his club but obviously got a bit worked up. He claimed 60% possesion to City and more chances then when the stats showed they weren't 60% and City didn't have more chances, he said he wasn't interested in stats???

Maybe he and Sky were slightly off but no point getting upset over it.

I never thought I'd be disappointed by a City fan, but when I thought I'd seen the lowest some of you can get, you went and outdid yourself.

I'm just glad that there are people on here with morals and the ability to respect people who are no longer here. So well done to you guys.

Everyone has the ability to respect people who are dead. Who we choose to respect is another matter. And infact who we choose to respect reflects our morals.

You wouldn't say "well done to you guys" to people who respected, to take an extreme case, Hitler.

Obviously Best was no Hitler but it's the same principle. If you think Best should be respected then argue that point. Don't imply that the dead should be respected purely for being dead.

Here's my letter:

I am writing to express my complete and utter condemnation of the treatment given to a true English Legend such as Mike Summerbee during your coverage of the Manchester Derby on 12/2/2011.

It seems very obvious to me that every attempt was made to belittle, ridicule and demean every positive comment the former Manchester City winger made, by his fellow pundits Redknapp and Yorke and of the main presenter.

The most telling was their attempt to portray Mr Summerbee as someone who was not in complete possession of the facts of the game by revealing the stats which showed Man Utd had a 54%-46% possession advantage over Manchester City.

However the TRUE faces as stated on your OWN website and various other websites shows that Mr Summerbee was actually correct in his assumption that Manchester City possessed a greater period of possession (51%-49% in favour of Manchester City)

I would like to know whether or not it is the general practice of Sky Sports football coverage to present inaccurate facts and to demean past legends of the game just so you can present a positive and superior image of Man Utd over Manchester City.

I also noticed the bias concerning Mr Tyler in his commentary, went beyond the realms of the acceptible and a blatant example of a lack of impartiality.

For someone like myself who has subscribed to Sky Sports for 7 years, i have noticed this trend for a while but it is only after today that it has become glaringly obvious that, for a self confessed impartial sports broadcaster, today's events and spiteful, playground demeaning of Mr Summerbee leads me and indeed others, to believe this is anything but the case for Sky Sports, and as a result i am seriously considering my subscription as a viewer, i don't expect to see a one-sided viewpoint from the presenters and indeed the network for such high profile games such as this.

I expect at least a reply from someone at Sky Sports to explain why the programme had an obvious bias towards Man Utd and the dispicable attempt of demeaning a long serving former English footballer using inaccurate or misinterpreted statistics which have since shown Mr Summerbee's comments to be wholly accurate in their delivery.

Having had ro endure the likes of Tommy Doherty, Paddy Crerrand, Lou Macari etc etc come out with some very snide dismissive comments about city it was nice to see the balance redressed.

Indeed they were.

Both the BBC and (now) Sky have the posession stat as 49%-51% in favour of Manchester City. The stat SKY referred to was the Territorial Advantage stat, which Summerbee wasn't talking about, he basically said "we had more possession" and then they corrected him using the WRONG stat.

Sky have since changed their stats to the correct results. For long periods MCFC held a 55%-45% advantagde in possession.
