Mikel Arteta

Disappointing if true, hopefully he's not able to take too many of Pep's coaching secrets and tactics to Arsenal. We should have done more to keep him if Pep feels he's so important, double his salary or whatever. I'll be really fucked off if Arse start playing like us and become genuine title challengers now.
Why worry? They won’t challenge us but might finish above the scum

Good luck Arteta.

Interesting times at Arsenal. Doubt he will get much money to spend and they are in a period of change.

How long before they are stable is difficult to know.

The pressure to deliver results will probably be higher than delivering entertaining football, particularly from the Board. Can they get back into the Champions League. Time will tell.

Listening to TS earlier and apparently his name is an open secret in coaching circles in regards his ability and reputation,he's very highly rated and considered the next big thing.

Maybe Arsenal are being very unArsenal like,by seizing the day.
Robbie on AFTV said he'd spoken to Arsenal fans and none wanted Arteta. Most thought they had Allegri nailed on but it's looking like he's not going to be their manager. I think many will accept Vierra as he's a true Arsenal legend. No guarantee that any manager is going to be successful, and none will get anywhere near the longevity that Wenger had, even if they get it right quickly and deliver a trophy or two early in their tenure.

'Careful what you wish for' is a cliche that could ring true, for those that helped hound Wenger out . It is getting tougher for clubs to re establish themselves nowadays, no matter how big the club is. We only have to look across town to see that. United (as did Liverpool before them) took success for granted thinking it would last forever. Nothing ever does and that's why we should be grateful for what we have now, as things can change quickly.

I think Arteta could do rather well at Arsenal. His priority must be solidifying a weak defence and who he signs as goalkeeper should give an indication of his intention in terms of footballing style. I wonder if he'll make Bravo one of his signings?

Would that indicate his intention is to ship a lot of goals?

.....yep,just like Steve McClaren, Paul Clement, Brian Kidd....and every coach whoever worked under Clough lol. Hope he does well....but would be amazed if Arse got top 4 next year.

Very hard to see which of this season's top 4 would be under threat from them. "No shit Sherlock" moment here; all 4 are better sides than Arsenal. Upfront, the gooners aren't bad, with Lacazette and Aubemeyang. Their achilles heel is their defence; they ship too many goals to get into the top 4, in my opinion.
Goals conceded;
City 27
Vermin 28
Spurs 36
Liverpool 38
Chelsea 38
Arsenal 51
Burnley 39

Nearly twice as many as us, with our "dodgy Pep defence". They need to get that sorted first.

Je need a new goalie, versatile FB to play either side, a centre back, DM and AM/FW to play across the 3.

Would not be suprised if maybe some of our fringe players or lads on loan may be looked at along with targets their DoF has in mind.

If true carzola and alonso may be part of his backroom that's experience on the pitch, needs maybe some old heads in also to support.

Good luck to him, and with a £50mm transfer budget (as reported by Ornstein) he's gonna need it.

Doesn't he only speak to the fans with special needs so people can laugh at them and he can make more money?
You would think so watching them. They would be suicidal if the ever got relegated to the old third division like we did. I think Robbie's success and YouTube views is purely based on their misfortune, he'd be skint if they'd of been successful when he started up.

Thanks for the memorys...

Good luck...

Arsenal forums suggest none too keen

Hiring Arteta as manager would be like me asking a 17 year old who got a B in his GCSE maths but has spent a year studying accountancy with Carol Vorderman to do all my taxes and manage mine and my family's finances for a four year duration, so long as I had some fancy foreign advisors
Closer inspection finds she only got a third at Cambridge. She only got the gig cause of her nice backside & bouncy fun bags
