This is total bullshit from start to finish.Evo49 said:In reply to the OP, I'd say any increase of American military power in that part of the world would be done with the aim of maintaining the peace.
Iran has repeatedly threatened to disrupt traffic through the Strait of Hormuz in reply to United Nations sanctions imposed in response to its nuclear program. Increased American presence would deter this action and the risk of escalation it would entail.
America has also persuaded Israel against any military action against Iran, for now at least, whilst sanctions are given time to work. Again, increased American forces in the area may give Israel the confidence to "wait it out", and not take action unilaterally against a nation developing nuclear weapons who has previously stated it wished to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
So, in my opinion, America using its power to contain a volatile situation - we should probably be grateful.

Even disregarding the fact that we know the powers that be will lie their arses off to go to war in support of these lunatics running the asylum - the war industries and the most imperialistic PNAC faces in Washington and extreme Zionists in Israel, intelligence is not going along with it, for the moment anyway. Nothing from either US or Israeli intelligence has confirmed the development of nuclear weapons by Iran. Mossad seem dead set against it and has said Iran has not made the decision, is a rational actor and a former Mossad head has said Israel does not face an existential threat from Iran. Jesus, when Mossad and the CIA are to the LEFT of you, you know just what a right-wing lunatic idea it must be.Unknown_Genius said:Just like Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction?

Without a doubt.
I would love for us to just turn around and say 'No' your fight, you're on your own.
Let them try and pull another country in to help them, only problem is, there isn't anyone out there like us.

We can't forget the involvement of Saudi and the UAE here either. They're pushing strongly for it as well, but they have their own reasons to do with regional balances of power (also a concern to Israel), and tradition Arab-Persian distrust.

No wonder not many countries like them.
No offence to our yank blue friends.
Our yank blue friends are in the 10% minority of Americans who understand that there's a world beyond their shores.
Most Americans we come in contact with are great people - well travelled, interesting, educated, funny, generous etc. However, more than 90% of Americans live in towns of less than 10,000 people and more than 90% of Americans don't have a passport. Fact is that we see and meet the yanks who live in the big citys or who travel to broaden their horizons . . they're in the minority whereas the majority are small town red-necks, living in secluded, ill-educated communities, as right wing as gorbells and like deliverance on acid.
They're the gun totin' fuckers that believe the shit that the defence industry sponsored tv stations put out to drill shit into the heads of the great unwashed.
They're the pawns that vote their fascist warlord presidents into power.
Recently? They've been US and British allies for decades.BoyBlue_1985 said:Saudi has changes alot lately and gone very more pro western
