IMO Milner needs to be drafted into centre mid for Barry.

He offers us much more than Barry does in centre mid. His passing isn't as good as Barry but for energy, tracking back, getting forward he is streets ahead.

Barry is good when it's a tight game and when we need to keep hold of the ball, he won't panic and he's dependable.

But i definitely think Milner should replace Barry in centre mid and see how we get on. I just think once the game stretches Barry is a bystander

Not sure about that. I'd say they are much of a muchness.

In a 4-4-2 I'd go with Milner. In our formation I think it's right Barry gets the nod.

For now, I'd play Yaya Toure there with Tevez in the hole behind Dzeko. Eventually I'd play Michael Johnson there as he pisses all over both of 'em (if he ever gets fully fit).

So MJ is better than Y Toure and Milner

Wow half a season and you know that, unbelivable Jeff

No, Barry and Milner. Yaya is world class imo. I rate MJ extremely highly. Just my opinion.

I would tend to disagree with you there. Milner will offer the same disciplined approach as Barry, helping midfield and defence but will also offer another option going forward, something Barry can't do as he is too slow. Milner will get forward and as soon as the ball is lost he'll with give 110% to get back, all game long, every game.

He hasn't been given a proper chance for us yet, and it offen annoys me to see someone as limited as Barry keeping a much dynamic midfielder out of the team at a time we often struggle to break defences down

I would take Barry over Milner any day. Milner has been so hit and miss this season and I think next season well I hope next season we will see the best of Milner. The move to the club and so far he hasnt settled in 1 position to get a proper run of games.

If MJ can get a couple of games from here to the end of the season it will do him the world of good for next season and he may also be battling it out for a start alongside Yaya and De Jong in the midfield roles.

The fundamental flaw in your logic to me, Anton, is that Milner is as slow as Barry. And his vision is poorer in my opinion. He doesn't need to get forward as part of the holding two, either.

But if we go 4-4-2 I do agree that his energy would make him more effective than Barry.

One thing I do know is that Milner is a waste of space in a wide role. His delivery's ok but his lack of pace and penchant for running down blind alleys renders him largely useless there in my opinion.

Yeah so did i as did alot of people but he has pretty much been out of the game for 3 years piled on weight and has a love for things alcoholic (big contract too early IMO.) Will be interesting to see how he fairs when he comes back but my hopes are not sky high for him.

Tight game or not, Barry is Mr Dependable.

Sure he hasn't got explosive pace, trickery or the ability to be a box-to-box player (and I don't want him to be), but he is ALWAYS available to receive a ball from anyone, anywhere on the field. He can create space for himself and others and acts as a pivot for moving the ball around the field.

When you watch a class squash player, they very rarely move outside a certain circumference. This is because they have the ability to do all their work from there.

Similarly with Barry.

I just want Barry and De Jong to keep doing exactly what they are doing amazingly well now. Let Yaya, Silva and AJ (when back) provide the sparks.

I think it was Vieira who said that Barry was one of the first names on the teamsheet each week and the management are under no illusions as to his importance to the team.

So, no I wouldn't swap him for Milner in the middle.
