Milner talks about Man City

"Milner is reported to have turned down better terms offered by City in order to move to Anfield, where he believes he can play more regularly after making just 18 league starts last season"

Not sure how that makes him a mercenary??

I'm not going to get into a debate about whether or not he's a mercenary but don't kid yourself that Milner has lost out financially by signing for Liverpool.

His weekly wage when it's broken down may have been less but you can ge guaranteed his signing on fee made up for any shortfall, Liverpool also offered him a longer term than City were offering.

Not getting into much of a debate about this because it's unimportant in the great scheme of things. Milner was reportedly on 120 grand a week with us and is on 120 grand a week at Liverpool plus a signing on fee of 1.5 million with bonuses.
Most players are mercenaries now and as I said Milner isn't any different, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

He was able to happily accept less wages per week (reportedly no one knows that's the truth) because he would have got a lovely signing on fee which is true because he went on a free. Your welcome. Every player plays for money.

Stringing us along.... he played his bollocks off in all the 5 years he was here. He didn't force a move, he didn't complain about not playing every week, he got his head down, did his job & saw out his contract. Also he never refused to train or play (which allegedly Sterling did when he moved to us, during pre season?)

He moved on because he knew he wouldn't be a regular starter & wanted to play more, especially in Center Midfield. Rodgers told him that's what he would do at Liverpool, so he moved. Having won all the domestic trophies (but not playing in the FA Cup Final or the QPR game) he didn't want to see his career out as a bit part player. Up until Rodgers left he was playing in midfield, Klopp came in, change things a bit & he found himself the bit part again. Spent a season at Left back (& didn't look out of place) & now he's worked his way back in to central midfield for them.

Anyone City fan who gives him grief is a mard arse in my eyes... he celebrated against us, so he should. 3 days earlier we beat them on penalties in a cup final, if i was a Liverpool fan i'd want him to be excited about scoring against us in that situation. Said Liverpool we're the better team.....look at the article, said we had better players but Liverpool we're more together, given he said that during Pellegrini's last season with us, he's probably right.

James Milner was a solid, dependable, hard working professional for us. Has probably over achieved in his career through sheer hard work (I in no way wanted the scousers to get to or win the champions league final but a part of me thought fair play to Milner for getting to experience playing one) & he despises United, he's alright for me.

Spot on.

No, if you actually paid attention you might get it, I'll say it one more time

I have no issue with anyone celebrating against their former club. With me so far?

Ok, here's where the issue comes in - when he refused to celebrate scoring for us against Villa and then celebrated scoring against us for Liverpool I viewed that as disrespectful to City. You follow? No hypocrisy, no fickleness, just resentment that he'd do it against City and not against Villa.
Does something as trivial as that make you hate him, I honestly don't give one fuck what he does when he leaves our club, only thing I cared abt was him grafting every time he put our shirt on.

Hate? No, what gave you that impression?

I gave that and another example of where he disrespected the club and suggested it isn't surprising that City fans would have an issue with him on the strength of that.
