Milner

Agree about Milner but worth pointing out too that Barry has improved immeasurably recently. Far more mobile and constructive.

Its all relative...........he's still not good enough.

Exceptional performance from milner today. Brings more to the table than de jong and was the correct substitute, injury or not

To say Milner "brings more to the table" than De Jong is obsurb mate. Your talking about a specialist DM who is also one of the best in the world at it, as opposed to a utlitity man who looks better in CM than out wide. Dont get me wrong I love what Milner offers and think he should start against Everton. But lets not get carried away.

To say milner doesn't bring more to the table in a game like that is absurd. You said it yourself - de jongs a specialist defensive mid. He wasn't needed yesterday, but he'll be very much needed on sat.

Thought he was excellant yesterday! Mancini's use of him this season has been extremely frustrating though. We woudnt us De jong as a winger or Kompany as a full back. Unfortunately due to having next to no quality or depth in the wide areas he keeps being pushed out there. I mean the lads 25 now made his premiership debut at 16 he had been an extremely average winger for 8 years, it was only when o'neil used in the middle we saw a totally new player. I personally feel he brings more to the table than barry in terms of energy and also attacking threat. I think yaya n milner could take turns to attack. Milner also has the energy to get back. I woudnt mind seeing him get a run in the middle of the park until the end of the season tbh. At 25 he could potentially become the best box to box midfielder in the league.

I thought he looked great when he came on yesterday. His passing is excellent and his work-rate is as good as almost anyone on the pitch (Think Zaba gets the nod there). For me I'd like to see him play regularly in our midfield 3 with De Jong as the most likely to sit, Yaya as the box-box player and Milner as the furthest forward. I think Yaya is so much more effective when breaking from deep and Milner's through balls and movement is a great addition to Silva and Johnson/Balo. I think Dzeko may benefit from Milner playing in the middle too.

Milner looks a decent midfielder to me but lacks pace for a wide man. I would not be too eager to congratulate him on yesterdays game, although he did not play badly. We were against the bottom club and they had two first choice central midfielders injured. They still had a spell of dominating posession in midfield.
