Milos Kerkez

I’m a huge fan of both — especially Dimarco. They bring intensity and grit, and would fit into this team like a glove. The only doubt is whether their age will go against them in our recruitment strategy. But with the squad we’re assembling, I’m confident we’d win a lot — maybe even another treble.

Sorry for the obvious bump but I remembered this post. Di Marco doesn’t know how to defend. Yamal, embarrassed him, admittedly won’t be the last. But his positional play for the opener tonight is a joke.

Di Marco has been shocking tonight. Playing onside by a few meters and turning his back on a shot, thats nowhere near him.

Think he would be the best of the three attacking but worst one defensively
I think historically and even now, our best defense has always been possession. Whoever helps us posses the ball better and evade press easier will make us better overall defensively.

I believe Ait Nouri helps us best (in being cohesive than the other 2) which in my opinion means helping us better defensively.

Robinson is probably best individually. He is the strongest, quickest and biggest. So defensively he'll be the best.

I actually think Kerkez would be a better crosser of the ball and given the same opportunities will create more cross chances.

But i still prefer Ait Nouri overall. Better passer, better ball control, better small space vision, better inverting, better dribbling etc. i think all that will play a bigger role in protecting our defense.

Is Bastoni suddenly a poor defender now? I just watched PSG put five past Inter and when they played Barcelona I saw Yamal give him and the other defenders in his team a torrid time — but does that erase his entire body of work?

What about Stones? PSG put four past us and Arsenal put 5, so are we going to suddenly say Stones isn’t elite?

Barella — not a good midfielder now? Because PSG outclassed Inter on the night? a few bad games and we throw out years of consistency and elite-level performances?

Dimarco has dipped recently — fair. But form is temporary. The same Yamal who embarrassed him is doing that to defenders across Europe. He’s arguably the best winger in the world right now. It happens. He got hooked when AC Milan out classed them recently. He has been having bad games now of late. He was schocijng tonight and he has been shocking lately. Form dips and it is what it is.

I’ve watched our own defenders — Dias, Stones, even Gvardiol — put in shocking performances. That’s football. Players hit rough patches. The idea that a poor run instantly disqualifies someone from quality is reactionary. Inter came with the intension to couunter-attack and that really didn't wokout for them!

But no need to panic — City aren’t chasing Dimarco and we can move on from it.
