Milos Kerkez

We're being used to get his price up

Makes me laugh because it's so obvious.

Reminds me of Arsenal and Rice. The rumours of him going there were going on for months then right at the end West Ham used us to drive the price up (and we took the brilliantly piss with a nudged-up bid) which we let happen. Because, why not?

Same is happening here with Kerkez I'd imagine.

Except we’d have been better actually signing Rice than just having a quick laugh at Arsenal.

We would have signed Rice if Arsenal hadn’t met West hams asking price and Rice hadn’t made clear he preferred arsenal once thet met the price. The ‘we played chicken’ with arsenal is a nice story but fanciful.

Agreed. But they'd done the leg work for about a year beforehand. And he's a London boy.

The bid we put in at the end was a farce, it was obvious he was going there and we put it in - well below their valuation - then withdrew our interest after they inevitably rejected it.

I can’t help but thinking that we are just bringing chucked in there to be ridiculed when he signs for the red vermin

I agree

By all accounts Cambiasso is done and we have Nico O'Reilly coming though who can play there. We also have Ake.

Can't see why we would be going for Kerkez.
You can't see why we would be going for Kerkez? We don't have a single player who's main position is left back lol. Couldn't be clearer mate.

I would like us to bring through Mfuni. He is a real talent, IMO, and if Gvardiol, Ake, and O'Reilly there, he is able to be drafted in as backup with occasional and growing minutes.

The guy who signed Kerkez for Bournemouth is now the sporting director at the dippers probably has a good relationship with Kerkez.

Sorry, I just don't see it with Plodder. Next time you watch them, count how many times he passes forward. He has already scored two Premier League goals though so not too bad for £110m. The Kovacic you've mentioned has played less games, cost a third of the price and, amazingly, scored six.

But Rice probably still has at least six or seven seasons left as a top player whereas Kovacic is the wrong side of 30, and hardly renowned for goalscoring.

I’ve nothing against Kovacic, he’s been decent enough, but he’s not the player Rice is. He’d have been worth every penny of £110m.

The same with Fernandinho. Having that top, top player in that role gives you the opportunity to play an extra attacking player which means you can go on and win trophies.

Not in my eyes but it's only an opinion. Rodri doesn't need someone else to hold his hand and do that midfield role.
The Rodri who did his ACL and hasn't been available since September, yeah? If so, it's the same Rodri who will likely take time getting back to previous form, if he ever does. It's not a guarantee.

Not every athlete will be the same as before after that injury. The same Rodri who should not be played into the ground again when he returns?

Not saying Rice would have been the answer but he would have been more than useful this season and to let Rodri have some rest going forward.

Calling it "handholding" is simply trying to belittle the other person's opinion. But then, you may have known that already. :)

I reckon we are asking about a lot of players personally.

It sounded like Cambiaso was for the left but could also be the right if we’ve changed plan.

It sounds like pep is looking at playing a back 3/5 with wing backs as well as one will invert and one will play high and wide so all depends on that as well I guess.

I’d hope we play a 5 with the full backs swapping between one inverting and one playing high. That would make us genuinely flexible and difficult to play against.
