Minimum of a point from the Arsenal game please City

Spurs definite favourites now.

Two games ago, they were not. Probably one game ago they were not.

But they took the Arsenal and Chelsea games by the scruff of the neck and managed to turn it round with two terrific performances and results. Well done Spurs.

But we can do the same. We didn't play THAT badly today and were very unlucky again. And in the previous 2 or 3 games we've played pretty well.

Now we need to show some grit and determination (as Spuds have done) and go and win our remaining games. We CAN do it.

Fuck this getting a point shit!

That's why we lost today.

We need to win.

Nothing else is good enough.

Until we learn this lesson as a club and even as supporters, we'll only ever be also-rans...

I said elsewhere that spurs beating arsenal was a 5/2 shot, beating chelsea was 3/1. the double would have been 15/2. for them to beat utd is a 7/1 shot. so if the previous two results were unexpected, then beating utd is as unexpected as both of them put together.

if they just get a point, and we lose at arsenal, then we can still do it on goal difference if we beat them at coms and match their other results. both teams getting a point means goal difference wouldn't come into it in that scenario, we would be one point ahead.

and please remember that even a tottenham win at utd and a city loss at arsenal wouldn't settle anything. if we were then to beat spurs and win on a day they drew, it would be all square, back to g/d.

Unfortunately I don't think a point against Arsenal will be enough.

I reckon Spurs will get a point against United bringing their point tally to 65.
They will beat Bolton, bringing them to 68.

By the time we play them, we will have played Arsenal and Villa. Now being positive and thinking we will get a point off Arsenal and win against Villa would still mean we will only be at 66 points.

This means we have to beat Spurs, which I cannot see happening, I think we will get a point, which means we will be on 67, they will be on 69.

Spurs will beat Burnley, taking it to 72. Even if we beat West Ham we will finish at 70.

We *HAVE* to win against Arsenal to have a realistic chance of still finishing 4th imho and then hope that we have the better goal difference.

Not sure about this one we have Almunia & Silvestre who cost us the game against the Spuds. Lost count of the amount of times they've been responsible for this.
In other words, it's not our attack but rather our defence.

We need to at least match Spurs results until we play them and then obviously beat them........that will be tough though as they have a certain 3 pts against Bolton, whilst we have a tough game against Villa.
I wouldn't bet against Spurs getting 4th though unfortunately as they look a more balanced side than us but if we can go into the Spurs game where a win would take us above them then we can't really ask much more than that.
What would be gutting is if that game was immaterial as we'd dropped points beforehand..c'mon City

we need to win all remaining games, we cant draw. we have to go for broke in every game, which is what we should have done yesterday.
also we need spurs to stay in that hotel they got food poisoning from, that will help.

I didn't see Spurs today, but I saw the second half against Arsenal, and they were very lucky to win that game, so I'm not so sure it's true to say that Spurs have hit top form. As someone mentioned above, it was a long shot for them to beat Arsenal and Chelsea (15/2?), but we all know that odds like that come in all the time. I think they'll find it a bit harder at Old Trafford, and I think we'll find it a bit easier at the Emirates. That still doesn't mean we'll get a better result than them, but I reckon the odds are in our favor.

Lots of life left in this run-in!

Being mathematically still in with a shout, and actually having the mental and physical strength to fight on are two completely different things. If we lose to Arsenal and Spurs get even a point from the rags, they will roll us over at COMS...

Arsenal is a must not lose game for us now - so watch Bobby park the bus, concede loads of space and allow Arsenal to play their football.

-- Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:09 am --

Then we'll always be also-rans under Bobby. His way, the Italian way, is to play the percentages. Low risk, men behind the ball, play on the counter...I've said it before, but you don't win league titles playing like that.

Think we need 3 wins, including the Spurs match.

So I do think we need to get something out of next week.

-- Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:35 am --

Does Ancelotti play the Italian way?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Italy, Mancini is seen as the more attack minded of the two.

I disagree with this mate.

I would say Spuds have their easiest game of the three coming up next. Arsenal and Chelsea are playing much better football than the scum are right now, imho. I though they were very poor yesterday and it's very disappointing that they were better than us.

If Spuds carry on as they are doing, they will take all three points at the swamp as well.

And likewise, playing as we are, I can't see us getting any points out of the Arsenal game. Arse completely bossed the Spurs game and really should have won it.

Having said ALL of the above, it's a whacky season and realistically, anything could happen!

If The scum beat spuds, then it might get the lads going even more knowing what they have to do, like the burnley game where mancini said he told the lads spuds got beat at sunderland, it made them go for it more,

at least we know where we stand before KO, it spuds get beat, then imo it will give the lads than added boost to go out there and deliver once again.

Playing as we are you can't see us getting points out of the Arsenal game? We've been on a decent run recently and a last minute goal cost us a point, it's not the end of the world and we've done pretty well of late especially away from home. Arsenal on the otherhand have lost two on the bounce and now have to play with their second choice keeper and two average centre backs, we can go there and win whereas Spurs are great at home but not the best away and will find if extremely difficult to beat United at Old Trafford

It will be as you were after Saturday night.

Both us and Spurs will lose.

Even beating both Villa and Spurs now, still means we will have to go to West Ham and win, a draw won't be good enough.

Spuds have Burnley away on final day, so the goal difference could also be a deciding factor.

no it won't - if we both lose saturday then winning the next 3 left, we will be clear in 4th no goal diff required.

Why are you convinced we won't get anything at Arsenal? They've got a dodgy backline and are missing their best midfielders, recently both Wolves and West Ham have run them close at home so theres no reason why we can't go there and get something especially considering our recent away form

interesting fact this season, whoever we have lost to we havent beat in the other game, everton lost twice ,rags lost twice, hull lost and drew, hope this isnt a bad omen for the spuds game.

What I was wrongly trying to show was that the outcome will go to the West Ham game, requiring us to win.

There were a few people on here who thought the Spuds game would have us clear and breathing easy.

Beating Spuds would only have us a point ahead at Hammers.
