With Scotland about to introduce a minimum price per unit of alcohol, what are the feelings about this?
Should it be introduced accross the UK, will it lead to lessw abuse of the booze or just mean people spend more of their money on drink?
Or will it mean people return to the local pubs instead of getting a big carry out from asda or tesco?

Food and drink should be taxed according to their harm/danger, as interpreted by science and scientists.

Most dangerous foods and drinks are taxed the most, least dangerous taxed the least.

I reckon it would encourage people to eat/drink healthier, helping the NHS.

I am totally against authorities increasing the price of things simply because a minority can't control/behave themselves. Target and punish the piss heads who cause all the problems, and don't take the easy way out by punishing all the rest of us.

This is another stupid move by the government officials..I work for a big brewery and I can tell you with all the extra tax on beer and now this...It will kill the industry fast.

People will not return to pubs, as there are fewer local pubs than ever before..and to visit a pub in some areas..a trip to a town centre is needed...and people will not do this to `nip out for a pint`...and people will just stop drinking casually.

A snip of info for you..Where I work, we used to produce around 24,000 kegs of lager a week...18 months down the line...we produce around 8,000.

Massive thumbs down from me.

As far as I am aware it's not extra tax its a minimum price, many argue that all this will do is put more money into the hands of supermarkets rather than help tackle the issue of alcoholism/binge drinking.

It's a minimum price that the beer has to be sold at not a tax. You should be happy because a lot of the brewers are.
