So will my pint in the pub still cost my £80 or is it going to be £80.37
I dont think it will affect the price in pubs much (though the free drink for £10 type deals might have to go), i think it is more geared to the off licences and the tesco 48 tins for £25 type offers

This will not happen in England. The government want us pissed as newts all the time so we can ignore the utterly shite job they're doing. Fuck me, Blair got away with it for 10 years!

Food and drink should be taxed according to their harm/danger, as interpreted by science and scientists.

Most dangerous foods and drinks are taxed the most, least dangerous taxed the least.

I reckon it would encourage people to eat/drink healthier, helping the NHS.
Out of all the foods and drinks that I eat, alcohol is the most heavily taxed by far. What's your point? Or were you drunk at the time?

A snip of info for you..Where I work, we used to produce around 24,000 kegs of lager a week...18 months down the line...we produce around 8,000.
Poeple are drinking more cider, wine and ale to replace the lager. Not even remotely valid as a point dude.

I've made mine.

What's yours?

That alcohol is already heavily taxed?

That's fuck all to do with mine.

How will it work though? Will it not just mean cheaper brands will now be closer in price to the premium stuff.

Let's just it's a 50p per unit. A bottle of vodka would be about £15 then based on 2 units on a 50ml serving. So that's the price of snirnoff but also the minimum price. So are you going to pay the £15 for tescos own or another cheaper brand or go for smirnoff? Or will smirnoff just increase their price to keep the differential.

Depends on the size of bottle.
