Yes his new agent is getting him a better deal at Juve.

Maybe but this has been constantly mentioned in the Italian press. Unless Pjanics agent is doing a massive job of leaking our fake interest then you could assume that we're briefing the media we're not in for him so we don't end up with egg on face like the Jorginho saga.

Unless something is lost in translation why would Pjanic’s agent present our offer to Juve? Very hard not to see this as contract negotiation.

С. - DM position is still an issue. City's main player there is 33 and could be upgraded, as his skillset is far from ideal. Pjanic rumours make too much sense to be completely baseless BS. If City want to have a better season in the CL, getting the right worldclass player is a must.

Miralem Pjanic ticks all the boxes, it's simply logical to think that
- City's interest is genuine
- City's PR department is bluffing to avoid another media meltdown in case the deal is off.
That makes sense but what doesn’t make sense is City paying bookoo bucks when we’re relatively stingy in the market these past few windows. What’s your stance on that?

You are correct - we could have a genuine interest but if we did the agent would be less likely to be spouting off - he’d be negotiating with City on behalf of his client. Instead he’s mouthing off in public wiping up our interest and making sure people think City are interested - sounds more like he’s leveraging Juve than negotiating his client out of the club but who knows... I guess we all will soon enough.

That's the way it works now. You agree the contract somewhat being the club's back and then you present the offer via an agent. They essentially act as intermediaries on the deal. It's what Juve and Mendes did on the Ronaldo deal.

Or it could mean 'Here's City's contract offer. Either give my client a new deal on similar terms or let him leave'.

City are hardly stingy. Broke the world transfer records for fullbacks and keepers last summer.

It’s always worth bearing in mind, as no one seems to bother, that maybe just maybe Pjanic himself has had enough of playing in Italy and actually fancies a move to the Prem.

Not saying that this is the case, however Juve have pissed it in Italy for the last few years and he may well be bored.

and we are happy to pay what we think a player is worth. We decided we didn’t want to pay more than £45mil for Jorginho but that doesn’t mean we don’t value Pjanic at for example £80mil.

Who knows.

I wonder if even the rumours of this will be enough to bring 'noise', 'Anti United' and co back?

Too much sense in one post. Reckon you'll be getting a short text from a mod for violating terms of use.

Transfermarkt has his value at 58.5m pounds. An offer of 63.5m pounds should see it through.

Yes that was when the world knew we had 300m burning a hole in our pocket and we had 0 choice of not buying top class fullbacks. We wouldn’t put up with Arsenals and Leicesters bullshit when it could have helped win us a CL so why we could go crazy in the market now when we pinched pennies on Mahrez and Jorginho? We smashed records and gave Pep a massive war chest...were done being ‘out of line’ and being out of line is what it would take for Pjanic.

I think you have summed that up pretty accurately.

There is no doubt that some players need the stimulus of a change of scenery, irrespective of their participation in winning 4 trophies in the two seasons like Pjanic has. Hazard is also a case in point. He looks like a man desperate for a new challenge away from Chelsea.

Certainly last seasons performances were not of the quality of those in the 16/17 season when Pjanic’s mastery of the midfield was redolent of Pirlo at his best. Subsequent performances in the season just ended ranged from inspired (spraying 35/40 yard passes with deadly accuracy or sublime goals from free kicks from 20/25 yds to several games where he was far less creative in his distribution, linking play and so on).

Pjanic is a very fine player who has a good number of years ahead of him. If Juve do lose him, they will have lost their most important midfield player. I do not know whether the Juve board are resigned to losing him in the next 2/3 weeks but if they decide to sell him for say €90m, they will have to spend circa €110m on their preferred midfield choice, Sergej Maliknkovic-Savic as a replacement. To balance the books, they will need to sell Higuain and possibly Alex Sandro as well as Pjaca and Sturaro to raise about €140m.
