Missing woman Nicola Bulley - inquest (P 158)

Im sure it would if you were practically on top of the person. Side scan sonar is much quicker as it covers a much broader area and to greater fidelity.
There are some that scan either side of the ' beam ' but yes you're right. However they would be better suited to a river or narrow estuary. Can show up clumps of weed, rocks, logs etc etc as well as all sizes of fish and in shallow water. Attach one to the hull of a small inflatable boat and work a grid pattern....I'm sure they would have thought about it or actually done something similar by now though.

You'd have thought so and maybe they have and not come up with anything. Having nailed their colours to the mast, local dib had really no choice other than to allow the experts up to scan the river, particularly after the media coverage of this companies portfolio and capabilities

The private diving team has said he’s found no trace of Nicola in the river and says it’s the most baffling case he’s ever worked on.

It's all very odd. Unless her body has travelled quicker downstream than anyone could have imagined.
Well done to him though for offering the help free of charge.
He’s said the if a person drowns they are really only ever 5 to 10 metres away from where they drown, confirms it’s a slow moving river he’s baffled.
