Mixed race players

Camel gob could be yellow with pink spots and I would still loathe his fucking soul to the gates of hell and back!!!!
That said, the term mixed race is dated and it doesnt actually mean anything unless someone from the human race copulates with a species from another planet.. Then you get mixed race....Surely??

I don't think it's unique to footballers - I'd hazard a guess that many mixed race people will have been on the end of discrimination in much the same way as black people and as a result tend to identify more with the "black viewpoint" for want of a better phrase.

it's and interesting question and that's an interesting retort.

I had never really thought about it before.

Deep down it doesn't really matter though
I agree with Lancs Blue's point.

Also many black-white mixed people tend to have the physiognomy of a black person even with light skin, due to the dominant genes, so perhaps they just identify with what they look like most.

Another interesting view J.

Its personal choice I suppose - I am white middle aged born in Blackley living in Yorkshire of mixed Manc, Notts, Cockernee , Eire, Ulster, Maltese and Germanic heritage and thats only going back about 150 years - suppose I could lay claim to any of them - passport says I am from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. However to look at my colour is self evident and I condense all the above into English. Wio is entitled to claim whatever he wants to as is everybody else - will never make him anything other than an Rag Twat will it??

-- Sat Aug 31, 2013 9:25 am --

Its personal choice I suppose - I am white middle aged born in Blackley living in Yorkshire of mixed Manc, Notts, Cockernee , Eire, Ulster, Maltese and Germanic heritage and thats only going back about 150 years - suppose I could lay claim to any of them - passport says I am from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. always dodgy ground this sort of topic...

Does it matter what colour religion what ever they are... if that individual wants to help equality within sport then fair play to them

Barack Obama is mixed race, but claims more of his identity as back due to his father being black. I've talked to other mixed race dudes that claim the same thing as Obama. It has to do with the father's side as a Male.

People seem to struggle with a word having different meanings.

The colour black and someone being of black ethnicity are not the same thing.

A black person can be as white in appearance as someone who would consider themselves white.

One drop rule.

My wife is mixed race and our two daughters are. The kids look white in appearance with my youngest having blonde hair. Looking at them without their mum being with them you'd never guess they were mixed race. My wife sees herself as black but my daughters don't. They accept their mixed heritage proudly and can't see why people make such an issue about it. I also don't understand why on some forms you have to tick those fucking stupid boxes stating your ethnicity. We all bleed the same FFS. If Wio wants to claim he's black then that's he's prerogative I suppose, I don't see why he has too though, I don't go round shouting that I'm white and proud of it!

I no lots of white lads who if you heard them on a radio say for instance you ( may ) presume that you are actually
Listening to the dude who's
Playing the dude
Who thinks he's the dude
That ain't Evan the dude
Anyone see what I'm mimicking here?

Robert Downey junior TROPIC THUNDER.
Point being its not an important thing or something to worry about is it
I'm off to the music of white origin awards now bye bye.
Haha,

Nothing to do with football or football players. Bob Marley - white father, black mother considered himself black. Obama has a white mother and black father considers himself black. I consider myself black as well even though my one parent is white. Its neither here nor there really, just personal preference really.

*bites fist*

Agree with much of this, its just that last bit could be rephrased better. I personally consider myself white but am technically mixed race. I suppose it depends whether I feel like getting offended or not whether I'm black or white.

Always wondered this myself, I'm not trying to be judgemental or whatnot, simply curious. I find it quite quite prevalent in the US too. Tiger woods for example, although in his case it is most likely due to marketing reasons and his external appearance. He does claim to be black more often than Asian.

I used to think I was white/brown but after listening to Dennis Hopper in True Romance it transpires that as my dad is from Sicily I may in fact be black...interesting times

I'm mixed race. That's not an offensive term.

I don't care what colour camel gob is. He is horrible,

Is it possible that wio is 'playing the race card', aware that he is a twat he's trying to make it racist for people to call him one?
I personally think we will all be a nice brownish mix in future as the many different races and cultures in this country inter marry and reproduce, which I quite like the idea of TBH, but I'm sure the BNP lot will be horrified which makes me chuckle.
As far as wio goes, being a gobby wanker is not race specific IMHO

It's wanting to be a little different, I don't think they want to be black they just play on it as it's a minority. Thousands of Italians came to South Wales between 1900 and the 70s. I was in school with a lot of the descendants of these Italian immigrants, most have inherited the Italian surname. They all say they are Italian, support the Italian football and rugby team, even when playing Wales. None of them can speak Italian or have ever been to Italy.

Similar thing to what Rio and other mixed race people do.

Apparently mixed race is un PC these days it's dual nationality!! My wife who is half Arabic half English said what a load of bollocks that is.

indeed it is... My stepdaughter who is mixed race calls herself 'half caste' FFS! I call her Nicole....

A few years ago (circa 2006) I was talking to good friend who was/is black about a lad we knew who had done a mugging in Bristol, I innocently referred to him as that "half caste" kid. I was politely advised that the correct terminology was "mixed race". Couldn't see the difference myself but accepted the comment graciously - no problem.

Why is mixed race now deemed offensive? I do believe this is getting silly, but as always, happy to conform.... So the latest is ....?
