MLB 2025

After September I had no faith at all in the team doing anything in the postseason, after that disgusting hitting performance yesterday I had no faith at all in ever scoring a run again so consecutive ALDS appearances are definitely to be celebrated no matter what.

Hopefully, no matter what happens from here, the front office finally see that an extra bat or two could make a huge difference towards the next step.

Can Skubal pitch on one day's rest the rest of the year?

Bats finally came alive. Can Skubal pitch twice against Seattle? Bats remember what its like to hit with runners on the bases then maybe they can progress? Certainly more than i expected.

I think Skubal gets game two and if it gets as far as game four he might come in at some point, if it's win or go home akin to Sherzer against the A's all those years ago, otherwise he'll be on shortened rest anyway for a potential game five

Fair play to the Tigers. Played a solid game and capitalized well on an atypical Cleveland bullpen meltdown.
Rooting hard for a Milwaukee-Seattle World Series now. Be delighted if either of them won it.
My personal preferences in order:

1. Brewers
2. Mariners
3. Tigers
4. Blue Jays
5. Cubs
6. Phillies
3,583. Yankees
2,937,902. Dodgers

Daft question, but could he start game one and just throw 3/4 innings and if the tigers are winning go to the bull pen and then throw 2/3 days later again in game 3 or 4?

Game one is on four days rest, it's most likely going to be a Montero start I'd say. Unless Skubal is getting tagged, which to be fair two of his losses were against Seattle this season, he'll stay out until his arm falls off when he does start. Especially with 100+ pitches on Tuesday making a shortened rest unlikely.

It's wild how not that long ago 100+ pitches could see a starter through seven innings and nobody would bat an eye. It seemed like Verlander threw 100+ every start and threw 100mph on the last pitch each time. Teams just don't mess with starting arms now, especially when you can see the difference an Ace can make in the playoffs.

Plus, you could seen how the familiarity of the bullpen cost Cleveland yesterday as Gaddis and Sabrowski had pitched in the first two games and the bats lit up a third time. If you go bullpen heavy in a short series too often, guys get worked out a lot quicker.

I think Skubal gets game two and based on that assumption possible bullpen relief if needed in game four/starting game five.

I'm more than happy to have Mize and Flaherty for two other starts, it's definitely the run support that's the question. I think pitching is the least of our worries, famous last words!

I'm kind of losing it, I might be dropping $1,500 for two tickets tomorrow. I'm trying to hold strong and wait until the morning and see if the prices drop a bit. The atmosphere in Philly at CBP in October is as good as any in sports, I'll never forget the Phanatic whipping the crowd into at the World Series back in 2008, you felt it throughout your whole body. Now they get to start out against the mighty Dodgers with their biggest weapon leading off and on the mound, if the Fightin's win tomorrow they'll take all of the momentum from them.

Let's Go Mets! Let's Go Mets!

(Am I late with this? Or maybe early.)
Every morning I wake up, say my prayers and then say FUCK THE METS! BTW, I got an early copy of the 2025 Mets Video Yearbook, here it is:

And there are two reasons I'd go to Skankee Stadium:
1. if the Mets were playing.
2. if there was a fire.

P.S. where's Philadelphia?

If it's helpful, the ~$250 I paid to see Lindor send Philly packing in Game 4 last year is by far the best money I ever spent. Particularly with the Phillies' window closing, this might be the last chance you get to see them play meaningful baseball for a while.

The mean Skubal gets game 2? Melton a good choice?
During the regular season, as a starter, he performed well for a rookie and certainly has potential. Out of the bullpen, not so much as he has a tendency to give up the long ball. So I don't mind the decision at all, I don't think we have a much better choice for a bullpen game. I thought Montero to start solely because he has slightly more experience

I think he gets 2/3 innings then another 2/3 for Montero and then any combination of Hurter/Holton/Finnegan/Vest to see it out if it all goes well.

Skubal announced as the starter for Game two and while it's not official I'd say so long as we're not on life support it'll be Mize, Flaherty and then Skubal again.

Boyd taken out in the first inning... Ouch

Strange to have gone with him on three days rest, three doubles off the first six pitches showed that.
