MLS Final Sun 7th - New England Revs v LA Galaxy

Re: MLS Thread 2014

Galaxy unlucky not to get 3 points. Again.

Husidic is just not good enough, slow and gives the ball away almost every time. He was headed to the Swedish 2nd div. and I think it's evident as to why. Keane great goal. Was he always screaming at teammates when he was younger, or is this am old man thing? I think a lot of the guys need him screaming up their ass so we can get into better spots when trying to get forward on the break or just quicker in general. Gonna try and catch and the game next week if its here in la so ill grab some pictures

Seattle draws like 45k a match it is insane for stateside football. I watch the local side Vancouver Whitecaps, they've got a good side some nice players. Kenny Miller is their big name player lol. Just picked up Pedro Morales from Malaga nice little midfielder. They play Chivas tomorrow at midnight BST for u night owls.

Most people in Canada hope Toronto fall flat on their face. Arrogant media darlings that can do no wrong..... Reminds me of a certain other club that wears red lol.
more like every other team that has toronto in the name if they are winning they will win it all if not the sky is falling. I worry that if several of their teams do well it may be a sign of the apocalypse.

I don't really have a team I follow or support, the whitecaps have the best chance since they have an academy here and maybe one day someone from here will play in the MLS or even PL.

I watched part of the TFC game today they seem to have good crowd noise.

Re: MLS Thread 2014

I attended my first MLS match on Saturday. Went to the Sporting KC vs San Jose match. While I enjoyed it, the stadium is fantastic, the crowd is very good, the level of play was just too sloppy. I know that is how Sporting plays. Push forward and break the opposing lines and control the game on the opposing half. I've watched them on TV a lot and so maybe it was just a rough night due to the cold and 30 MPH winds. They just always seemed a bit off. It isn't uncommon for Sporting to have a ton of shots and few on goal. I can only imagine what a guy with some accuracy could do playing for SKC. The opportunities are there, they just aren't very accurate.

I can see myself attending a lot more matches especially as it warms up. Getting tickets from the Cauldron for $28 each and jumping around and singing is great fun even if the soccer isn't great.

SKC really needed the win. Deserved the win, but only due to a stupid hand ball did they win.

Re: MLS Thread 2014

BTW, here is a news piece from a couple years ago (before Sporting won the title last year) that shows a bit of what it is like in the Cauldron members area. The sideline seats are where people sit and just watch the match. Behind the goals, people are standing, singing, chanting and generally going crazy for 90+ minutes. It really is a spectacle.

Good video!

I will say, having attended matches in several countries, that the MLS matchday experience is actually pretty good. You get kind of a continental Europe vibe in those supporters' sections without some of the extremely unsavory elements that tend to crop up with European "ultras." Just a lot of people singing and having fun. Even though the football isn't usually great, it is a decent night out.

I always try to get to a few FC Dallas matches every year before and after the weather turns unspeakably atrocious. This would equate to "April" and "October," unfortunately. I'd actually go more often if it were not so damnably hot here.

Looks like you guys in KC have a very solid setup going. I particularly like the kit colour, of course!

Re: MLS Thread 2014

I wore my City jersey to the match on Saturday. Blended right in and was able to get a little conversation up and going.

I wish KC was a bit closer (about 3 hours each way to the stadium) and I would have season tickets. It is just too hard to make it to mid-week matches. Fun will come if I get to attend 5-6 matches this year and then City comes in. I'll want to sit with the Cauldron but won't be able to help cheering on City.

Watching Portland vs Seattle, 2-2 probably the only real rivalry in mls, great atmosphere and great game.
What about Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver? I mean, anything Toronto-Montreal is a grudge match, and everybody in Canada and who's not from Ontario pretty much hates Toronto.

Not saying there isn't Canadian rivalries but imo they are more city rivalries rather than club rivalries. Timbers and sounders have been rivals for over 35 years through different federations and for me is by far the biggest derby in the mls. The Canadian derbies will grow though and be good for the mls.

4-3 timbers now. Crackin game.

Haha, 4-4 now, Dempsey hatrick.
