Big G, it is about 6km if it is the one below, miles away.

You can get a Metro from South Hylton to the ground, would take about 25-30 minutes. I'm not sure how far the metro stop is from the pub though, and may be difficult as you are at the other side of the river wear to it so would need a bridge nearby.

where is the best and safest place to park a minibus with Salford Van Hire on the side?

essex.
haha

what about the terminus for sunderland??? cheap ale,if its still there

my advice on drinking in newcastle..learn sign language before you travel, and a couple of lines from gorillas in the mist could also be useful!!
otherwise go straight to ground...and a cylinder of oxygen might come in handy

Not sure, it was a bit of a back door pub i never stepped in whilst i was up there mate. From what i've read, if it still exists, it is a home pub anyway. But a lot of the comments on it were back around 2003/2004 that i can find. Have a look at the below map, and see if it looks like it could be The Wheatsheaf, may have been bought out and had a name change? Other thing is that it could have been knocked down as not much else nearby. Alternatively, there is the blue circled pub which i cannot for the life of me remember the name of.

There is a pub called The Jacksons around this area also. Do NOT go in here!

How close is the Newcastle Metro to Newcastle train station.

Same place, there is a Metro stop for Newcastle at Central Station, where the trains from Manchester will arrive.

Can i catch the 18.28 train to Newcastle easily if i walk from the ground to Sunderland train station. My preferred time.

for a 4pm ko i'd say not

you're looking at a 10/15 min walk from the ground to the station, then (based on when i went 2 season ago they dont let you on the northbound platforms to newcastle, instead they take everyone back to sunderland metro station where you can catch a metro to newcastle

if i were you i'd give it at least an hour in order to get your train, if not even longer

Re: Mancmackem's Guide to Sunderland & Newcastle

You can walk to Stadium of Light Metro station from ground to catch Eastbound train back to Central station. It's about same distance as St Peters but you should be able to go in same direction as you want to go. Only downside is there's a queue and if it's raining, you'll get soaked.
