You can walk to Stadium of Light Metro station from ground to catch Eastbound train back to Central station. It's about same distance as St Peters but you should be able to go in same direction as you want to go. Only downside is there's a queue and if it's raining, you'll get soaked.

you up for meeting in newcastle then off to the game or will you be going straight there??
Going for a drink or two before-Peter is organising the pub.

some of us blues in Newcastle are definitely meeting up in the union rooms right near central station (check macmackem's guide for directions) from one few a few pints before heading to sunderland

if you're coming to Newcastle first head on down and join us!

Deano, anywhere for a minibus to park in the centre and walk to the ground?

Park it in the Bridges car park mate, the map is on the front page. It's £1.50 up until 6pm and 50p after, safe as houses too. There's a postcode for it for those with sat nav. When you land, the boozers are literally 30 steps away. Seriously consider my pub crawl, and end it with a 90% absinthe in the Black Bull!

It's a 20 minute walk i would say. See the below map with routes and some more information.
