I wouldn't judge Chelsea by that opposition...they had way too much space and played on the front foot for the whole of the first half...Burnley changed it a bit and pressed more second half but we're never comfortable enough on the ball to get deep enough to put decent crosses in..don't think I've seen so many bad first touches from a team. Wait till they play a decent pressing established PL team.
As Carragher is saying now Chelsea's problem was breaking down teams like Burnley. They did not lose the league against the other top 4. If I remember straight they took 16/18 against the other top 4. Also agree with Gary Neville that at the moment this is a two horse race and I favour Chelsea, but it will be close.
It wasn't breaking teams like Burnley down that was their issue it was against the established premier league clubs on the road that was their problem. The likes of Newcastle, Everton, Villa, WBA etc.

Against the bottom 3 (teams like Burnley) we did worse than Chelsea
Not really. Chelsea were terrible against Newcastle and the Everton game was a fluke result. It was the games against Sunderland, Norwich, West Ham and of course us that cost them the most. They drpped a lot of those points at home too like Norwich, Sunderland and West Ham.

Everton away is a tough place where anyone can lose and it's not a problem.

Also the way the Premiership has gone the bottom 10 are all roughly the same quality and could be relegated. Only really Southampton and Newcastle are midtable, despite Newcastle slacking off.

Villa and WBA were strugglers last season. Chelsea were in pole position towards the end of last season, but I agree with Supercrytal, the lost it because of their inability to break teams down who parked the bus.

Suspect that Chelsea's purchase of Costa and Fabregas should help them break teams down, but we can't judge after 1 game

6 of the 16 were against us. We shouldn't have lost at the Bridge and had a weakened side at home, we'll take 4 points from them this season.

Our games against Chelsea will be absolutely crucial this season. I'd take 2 draws now as I still think we're more equipped to beat the lesser teams and Mourinho excels in the big games.

Looking at that first half, it's hard to believe Arsenal chose not bring Fabregas back. I know they have similar players, but he's special.
Not really for me. Ozil has been a better player for most of his career and hit higher heights in my opinion. We will see what Ozil does this season, though his poor world cup is not a good sign. Fabregas failed in Barca, becuase Xavi and Iniesta until very recently were still better players. I think it shows just how good Xavi/Iniesta were.

Ozil's a fine player, but he looks like he's completely lost his motivation since he left Madrid. Fabregas tonight looked like a player with something to prove, he completely dictated the game.

As I've said on other threads, if we keep Aguero fit I think he'll score so many goals that it will be near enough impossible to stop us winning the league.

I didn't see it, but I found this extract from Carragher and Neville on 3 at the back v 4 at the back.

Very interesting http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-gaal-must-not-panic-buy-at-manchester-united

Yep this is the clip from the start of the show, really interesting stuff, wish this clip was around when I was having the same debate on here the season before last!

Another thing that I noticed was the Ajax clip they used to illustrate Van Gaal prowess with 3 at the back, it was 20 years ago, it looked so dated it might as well have been in black and white! That was an incredible side though, and I've never seen a team play a shape even similar to that since, other than maybe a Bielsa side.

Neville is right about Blind, totally over rated.
Any mention of him getting off of another yellow for kicking the ball away, thus the reason Hart was so outraged that he nearly nutted the ref?
