Are you happy with how we are playing? Not winning games that are there to be won?

Here's a tip for you - no team wins every single game. Start from that perspective and you may start to see the bigger picture.

Broadly I am happy. We are in the top 4 with breathing space, and right on the tails of 2nd and 3rd and that's without having our most explosive player on hand the entire season, or Kolarov, a crucial piece of the puzzle who will always provide a dangerous outlet wide left. Something we have also lacked.

The season is 12 games in. I've seen some great performances (Liverpool, Chelsea, West Brom), dropped points in games we definitely should have won (Blackburn), picked up the spoils when perhaps we were fortunate to (Blackpool), and settled for a draw when a defeat would have been disastrous (United). Every fan of every club would say exactly the same thing.

For all the plaudits Arsenal get, they've lost two at home and frequently get dicked on by Chelsea and United. At the very least, this just doesn't happen to us anymore so it's progress in what is ultimately a long term goal of getting us to the very top.

With Balo and Kolarov, and perhaps a ball playing CM this January I'm pretty excited as to the potential of the side Mancini is building. Solid, hard to beat, with creativity and explosiveness. The kind of side that tends to win things.

at last a bit of perspective

Well I'm glad you're happy footballs a game of opinions, you've got yours I've got mine. 2 players do not make a team. I hope we are still in the top 4 come May, I can't see it, but I hope I'm wrong.
Mancini has built a solid hard to beat team but we lack in creativity. How can you spend £100 million and miss 2 players. We miss a decent manager who wants to win games not a manger who plays not to get beat.

They are two critical players though. Imagine Balotelli instead of Milner, and Kolarov instead of Zab last night. Suddenly you have two extra serious threats going forward, double what we had yesterday, without changing shape.

United would have gone from worrying only about Silva and Tevez, to Kolarov and Balotelli too. They wouldn't be able to double up as they did, giving each of our players more space to do what they do best.

As a point of comparison, take out Cole/Drogba from Chelsea, or Alves/Messi from Barcelona and you have a very different proposition. I see very much in the same boat and so does Mancini.

Quality attacking fullbacks change games these days. They are gold dust. As is someone of the quality of Balotelli.

Yes a lot of money was spent, yet here you are judging Mancini when he has been without half of the signings he made. And even then we are STILL 4th, and closer to 2nd/3rd than 5th are to us. The man has done a very good job so far, even more so given the pressure/new country and injuries.

for those of you who didn't hear booing, well regrettably there was
especially in the east stand where i am.
i sort of understand it owing to the nature of the game.
its not something i ever do but i get the frustrations.

Of course theres going to be an element of frustration but to boo is ridiculous. We were playing against a top side, a side who are extremely hard to beat. Some of the people behind me in 110 are getting worse with each game, they're like spoilt brats who don't they they're own way. How dare we pass the football sideways or backwards, how dare Mancini not play with two strikers and start Adam Johnson

Footballs not as easy as saying we should attack them and doing it, you have to appreciate how well set up the other side are at times and to be fair to United they were set up to make it difficult for us to get in behind and they did that very well

don't misunderstand me i ain't condoning it not by a long shot.
i'm with his tactic of not getting beat don't particulary like it but i get it.
and booing was a poor understanding of what was going on.
a recent 3 match losing streak of conceding goals, a painful 3 last minute goal defeats against them.
he was getting back to a tight ship, we might be thankful of this come the end of the season.

You people are deluded that performance was crap. I have followed city since 1978 through second division etc. And i pay £50 for a ticket and feel entitled to slag players off earning 50k up to 200k a week who couldn't pass water Milner is crap and Mancini is so negative it is untrue.
Dear Tommo sadly it is you who is deluded. What you pay for is to watch a football match - you are entitled to an opinion but not to force it on others .

What you saw last night was what the 'modern' game does nowadays - neither team could afford a loss so they just negated each other - actaully there was some good football played it was just so friggin tight noone could break the deadlock-
City will batter other teams but not the top ones - YET!! IT WILL HAPPEN THOUGH GIVEN TIME AND THATS' EXACTLY WHAT CITY NEED RIGHT NOW NO NEGATIVITY- HAD ENOUGH OF THAT MY SON

Heard the boo's - cracking way to motivate the players.... or maybe not.

Why do people immediately think that any boos are for the home players? There was booing as soon as the MANUre team was announced an hour before the kick off! And the ref didn't exactly cover himself with glory.

Because when they are stood two seats behind me I hear it loud and clear. And after the shite they talked all match its fairly clear who it was aimed at.

I don’t understand some of our supporters. Without wanting to start an argument, just interesting in hearing others point of views, but please, if you fall into any of these categories, can you tell me why you:

1) slag off city players at a match?
2) Aren’t vocal in your support at a match?

Truly just interested, please don’t anyone start getting personal with other posters, I’m sure people have their reasons but genuinely would like to hear them?

Need a bit of advice blues.

Obviously lastnight i told this lad to fuck off called him a dickhead etc.

Should i apologise on Saturday and listen to his moaning shit or be stubborn and tell him to STFU again if he moans ?

Bit unfare Zab was probably our MOM, who's to say if he didn't play united wouldn't have scored.

People who boo at football matches should probably go watch a wrestling match instead; where public condemnation does not have a direct effect both on the performers morale but also on supporter unity. Ultimately, you pay for you ticket and it's your right to express yourself however you want. But, this also applies to me and I will exercise my right to call you up on being a rubbish supporter.

no booing in the south stand, whats the point?
both teams were shite tonight there is no point what so ever in putting the morale down for saturdays game
Both teams weren't shite, they were just set up to play tight , negative , boring footy. This is the Mancini way, grind away for an hour and then try to nick it. It's a cop out and it won't work!

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but why go and spend a fortune watching a football match and sit there moaning, slagging off the players and the manager? If its that bad do us all a favour and fuck off?

Yes but as you point out, and as others are conveniently forgetting, the rags were set up just as negatively and seemed equally happy to go away with a point. If we had been too gung ho you can bet your arse that we'd have been mugged with the sucker punch again and I for one would have been devastated by that. Slur Alex was banking on it. Not one for the purists but tactically Mancini probably called it right.

well last night was the first time I have been to a derby match - not the greatest I was assured by my mucker who first took me to see city some 4 years ago. Thankfully at the tender age of 57 he has seen more of his fair share of city disappointment, but what he always does is help me to put things into perspective, especially if you had to sit an listen to negative twats on one side of you and italian fans ( who I suspect were rags come to see the filth ) on the other. As I do not have a season ticket (saving up for next year) I more than often sit in colin bell stand, but last night was in the east stand level 3 and noticed a big difference in the crowd, they were more vocal, passionate etc unfortunately with that came the slurs, at manc and players - really fookin disheartening for everyone and killed what dampered atmosphere there was further. I imagine these are same miserable cunts that can afford a season ticket and do this week in week out - why say fuck all during the match offering little support and then boo as the whistle goes - if the said people put as much energy into supporting the players during the game as they do into booing then perhaps we might see that crucial goal come no matter how defensive in the midfield mancini wants to play it - lets hope the brum game gives all something to chant about
