i'm not really here
a mate has bought one of these on a residential plot after selling his home because of debt problems, he came out of the deal with 100k and paid 42k for this so banked 58k with debts all clear, 2 bedrooms, nice balcony wrapped around it for sitting out in the summer also has a life span from 50-70 years depending on maintenance keep up,council tax band A, seems a far better option than renting a flat on scum street as he wouldnt have got a mortgage because he's 63, not to sure if he has to be out for 7 weeks mid winter, some sites are permanent all year, But no big deal to spend the 7 weeks in Goa i suppose. think its the ideal move, anyone done this or thinking about it

Bought one last Aug. Only allowed to stay in it between May 10th - Oct 14th.
About 3 1/2hrs outside the City, on the lake and will be up there for 5 months of the year from now on.

He's bought himself a depreciating asset (?) and will, as above, probably have to pay maintenace/managemnet fees and as you say he will probably have to spend november in the Costa Blanca. Some sites insist that the caravans are maintained to a certain condition and some stipulate that anything over a certain age has to be replaced in order to maintain the overal condition of the site, usually bought from the site owner. I'm sure all the details will be in some sort of contract he will have signed with the site owner. We have a couple of clients who own mobile/static caravan sites and each one will differ.
Thinking about it, the fact that you say he pays council tax....does that not allow him to live there full time.??

Site rules. We have a four season model, which means we could live in it year round.
Double glazed windows, fully insulated etc. \
But the site no longer allows it due to insurance costs (puts them into an entirely different bracket).
There are people there that bugger off to Florida between Oct-May, but we'll just stay back in the City and use it as a summer cottage for now.

maybe mate all year then, i dont know but there must be some sort of inspection available for the buyer 'like an MOT', i do know the subframe has to be stress tested at intevals, if its around 10 years old now then hes good for another 35 years minimum which takes him to around 99 so he wont be arsed about depreciation, just seems the far better option than renting a flat

I looked at doing similar a while back. As others have said there are hidden costs involved. The fees to stay there can be between £300-500 a month, which Is like renting or having a mortgage again. It will soon eat into any profit from a house sale and will of course go up every year
