Modern footy is...

I’m old and tbh hate modern football. I hate sitting next to tourists, I hate social media bellends, I hate fan cams, I hate endless made up news, I hate twitter fans. Even though this is the best city team I’ve ever seen and the rags are shite I crave for the old game. Yes I am a miserable old Cnut.
Agree

I would say it is becoming more populist (due to Sky) and less nuanced. The traditional match going fan isn't representative of the direction the game is headed. Gave up my ST at City because I didn't recognise the people around me both from a socio demographic standpoint and also their lack of passion. VAR is like that moment in crass celebrity game shows where you are waiting to see who's been eliminated. Utter cringe and often wrong.
Also think it's shite just so I can keep up a 100% record of having a polar opposite view to blue hammer 85.

It's not different than before, just more money involved and the top clubs have become global entities.

It's still about scoring more than the opposition and signing the best players if you want to win titles.

The last decade has been a dream I never thought I would get to witness in my lifetime, fucking wonderful.

Shite

Matchday tickets pushing on to £70 with FFP being a driver combined with demand from tourists. Tourists being prioritised over loyal fans.

Over employment of shite pundits including Youtubers who've never visited a stadium. No idea how they are now considered "pundits" when they just spout shite.

Daft kick off times making travel a nightmare for match going fans.

Journalism is in the sewer
