Modern footy is...

...ace?
More games live on TV.
More accessible by air transport for European games.
Serious fan violence seems lesser so.
Capped away ticket prices (PL).

...bobbins?
"Can I have your shirt please?"
Half & half scarves.
UEFA, FA, PL etc don't give a monkey about away fans for TV fixtures.
Kick off times and days all over the show.
Overhyped.
Lights on phones at games.
Still racism remains in the game, and in the stands.
Less younger people are participating in football in England.
Ticket prices.
Joey Barton AKA social media.
Fans of bigger clubs are getting more entitled.
No accountancy or interviews or in-game audio from referees.
Pundits, with expressions such as "He should have gone down" or "he's mad not to dive".
European tiered competitions are expanding too much to too many games.
International football is expanding too frequently.
Semi-finals at Wembley.
Champions League new format: familiarity with the top teams.
Too many shirts. 4th choice. Special Chinese New Year editions etc.
Clubs actively seek tourism companies to fill seats - including away games.
Tempts more fans from non-league and lower league games (especially now fixtures occupy every day and time).

...insecure?
VAR and inconsitent offialdom.
Lacks transparency and should be looked at with more scrutiny.
Fan violence appears more vindictive and tribal.
Politics and warfare is inn the frame. Russia, out? Israel, in?
Managers seem to last far less time than years ago.

...other?
most games having a funeral break and now the broadcasters join in

Some sensible responses. I genuinely am having a crisis with the game. I am enjoying nonleague more than Premier League BUT loyalty is in the DNA. Been debating how the media, social media and fanbases attitudes have drastically changed with some colleagues.

Success obviously brings more spotlights and the status quo have made football a theatre of wet dreams for some fanbases. Tiring, for a sack of air and simple rules... with more vague rulings season upon season.

VAR has meant I rarely celebrate a goal.

There are so many things they could stamp out. Time wasting and the endless amount of ankle holding/pretending I'm injured until I've won the free kick. Can't stand it.

Getting Worse by the week in every respect apart from having to watch a great City team

Still has the same excitement for me wherever I go watching City. It must do or I wouldn't be going to Spurs on a Friday night bad back and all, with a potential 8-10hr journey there and back.I can laugh at the media tv and other fans as I have been lucky to see our journey which they could never understand. I do not agree with some of the rule changes but you move on or you become a right miserable sod and life is too short In my eyes.

Modern football is MONEY

Do you remember a time when it wasn’t?
Money will ruin the game. The games is now all about money. Et cetera, et cetera, et fucking cetera.
The earliest reference I can find to money ruining the game is when Alf Common was transferred from Boro to Sunderland in 1905, nearly 120 years ago.
And we got the same shit when the maximum wage was scrapped in the early 60s, and every time a major transfer record was broken.
I'm far more concerned about dodgy dealings in the game such as Qatar being awarded the 2022 World Cup and Saudi Arabia getting the nod for 2034. Plus the way Arsenal were installed in the old First Division, match fixing that has been admitted but never punished, UEFA bending over backwards to appease a few famous clubs etc.
