It is not fair to compare Silva ( goals & assists ) stats with Modric becase they play in different positions.
Comparing Modric's stats to Barry or Yaya will be more logical.
Modric 38 games in all comps las season, only 5 goals. Yaya 43 games, 11 goals.
PL: Modric 34 games, 4 goals. Yaya 32 games, 8 goals.
Not fair to compare Modric's stats to Barry. Comparing Barry's stats to Parker would be more logical...
Not sure that Modric's stats should really be compared to anyone in City's midfield since he normally operates as one of two in central midfield...as part of a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 system whereas we play 4-2-3-1.
He picks the ball up from the defence (a lot deeper than Silva e.g.) and carries it forward...before picking out Lennon, Bale etc for them to put in a cross.
I suspect he has a number of "pre-assists" but these not picked up in stats...
I think De Rossi + Modric are two of the top midfielders out there...who would improve our options as a team...
De Rossi...because he has the combat skills of De Jong...but a much better range of passing.
Modric...because he carries the ball forward with a sense of urgency + an eye for a pass.
