Im not bothering to read it - Why are we interested in who they are signing - especially as we've absolutely no interest in signing him ourselves? He's overrated..............

Granted its the Daily Fail but whilst you may think you dont want to sign him Bobby fancies him. If I'm not mistaken he was our number one target back in March?!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2122581/Manchester-City-want-Luka-Modric.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... odric.html</a>

Transfer window not open in march?! Who said he was our number one target other than the worst 'news'paper on the street? They make it up as they go along.
Bobby 'fancies' him - whats that mean exactly? Far too vague.

Mancini (bobby?) probably admires a lot of footballers. If the question is phrased "Do you think Modric is a good player"? He would probably answer "yes" - that isnt the same thing as saying he wants to sign him.

I think its fair to say that there is more chance of Ronaldo ending up in our shirt. Its just not going to happen - and a good thing too.

Pedantic much??

Just rehashing a story that hit most media outlets back in March. Not suggesting that the transfer window was open at that time but thank you for pointing that out!

I reckon they'll get him for reported 25m to 30m Chelsea didn't offer 40m it was around 30m.. If the rags were going for hazard in the 30m bracket there's no reason they dont have the money for him.. wages wise Modric is on around 65k... So if they get him that's two deals with combined layout fee+wages of around 90 to 100m over the contract of those two players

But crucually two players whom will expect to start most games and two players whom will significantly improve the first 11 - add to this the return of Vidic and they are going to be very strong next season

The margin last season between success and failure was minimal
This was mainly because we had the psychological barrier of winning our first title.
I expect us to finish a good 10 points clear of them next season, whoever they sign

Spurs turned down huge amounts of money from Chelsea last summer, and Modric still has a long time left on his contract. United won't be getting him for £25m that's for sure, they'll need to be spending, as a minimum, another £10m on top of that to secure him, maybe as high as £40m. I can't see United going to that kind of figure, in fact I can't see anyone matching Spurs' valuation.

Hard to determine how strong Utd will be because Vidic and Wio are injury prone (the latter being a year shittier/older as well)

If their defence is as strong or stronger(with Vidic fit throughout) than last year then the addition of Modric and Kagawa would see them just (considering we will hopefully have a fit and hungry Tevez for the full season) favourites at this moment in time, imo...

....at least until we strenghen our CB. CM and Wide positions.

Modric is class and just what they need

Must have been a quiet news day for The Sun!

Levy is no mug, if United are daft enough to go for this overrated fraud, he will ensure it's closer to the money Chelsea were offering.

Modric is shite and United would have yet another central midfielder who can't score goals.

What they need is a Yaya not a lightweight who drifts left every time the going gets tough.

Remind me again how Modric has carved us apart in recent seasons?

Spot on, TH. He flatters to deceive, looking pretty passing the ball around the halfway like while not hurting teams in the slightest.
Always invisible in matches against the best sides.
I really hope United buy him, to be honest. The only downside would be whether they would also be willing to let Bale go to us in the same window. Though Levy may well be looking to cash in, with Redknapp looking more likely to leave by the day

Modric is shte? wtf? You won't be saying that later on in the year if he signs for them, I'd put money on it

He creates nearly as many chances as Silva does and does so from a deeper position.

Utd will play him further up the pitch and his assists will skyrocket (esp with playing with Rooney rather than Defoe/Ade)

What was his assists last season?
