Mohammed Kudus

Got season ticket mates at the Hammers, know some others too, most agree Bowen is the better player even if Kudus is the more talented

They say he has a worldie in him, and can dribble past half a team but he goes down blind alleys, often goes for goal when a better option is available, runs down blind alleyways, can be lazy, makes stupid challenges when running back

Bowen isn't as flashy but he's a 7/10 player, gives his all is always a threat, makes intelligent runs, brings the team up the pitch, scores and assists regularly, is their penalty taker, covers more ground than anyone on the pitch, fittest on the team, does the defensive work

So yea, it's up for debate unless you go off twitter fans saying who's better for YouTube highlight reels instead dof watching 90 minutes
He reminds me of Milner and could play a similar role if he signed for us. Maybe not start when everyone is fit (assuming a few new top signings) but would bring great depth to the squad.

Agreed, but he's gonna cost us £80mil or likely more because he's worth so much to West Ham, he's their captain and inspiration, who also have him tied down to a contract till 2030(!)

Some lovely stuff in here:

Having said that, I can't help but think we're shopping at a tier lower than we used to. Buying players that have done quite well for a mid table side. When we bought Sterling, he'd been a key part of a team that almost won the league. When we bought Mahrez, he'd won the league and won at least one of the POTS awards in the process. When we bought KDB, he was the best player in the Bundesliga. Bernardo Silva had just won Ligue 1 and got to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a French team. The equivalent now would be us buying Saka (or Haaland, to be fair). Now we're linked with players that have done pretty well for Wolves, Leeds, West Ham, etc. And don't get me wrong, occasionally you'll unearth a gem from teams like that, but we do need to also be buying stuff from the top shelf occasionally too.

Problem with buying off the top shelf is inflation in transfer fees has gone through the roof. Unless you are prepared to go seismic you cant get these players. The Man City fan 'Buvey' said City should have a crack at Saka, and test Arsenal with 130m. Which is not a test at all.

Thats the situation now. A player like Kudus is worth 80-90m pounds. If you want top players of the top shelf from the richest PL clubs, you need to go above 200m for certain players.

I'm not seriously suggesting we should go for Saka, but we should be going seriously for those very best prospects like Wirtz, Musiala if he's refusing to sign at Bayern, etc.

I'm getting the feeling some are getting a bit carried away with this guy due to their desperation to see us reinforce.

We have be mindful that it's West Ham and their same old PR drive to sell a player at much higher price than his worth.

Musliala is German kid playing for Bayern Munich - You are running uphill with no cover, really difficult to pull off. As for Wirtz, I've heard he likely to stay at Leverkusn and further has little interest in playing in England.

There are times when the player is available for the right fee - Haaland for example, with his dads connections to Man City and the player himself being born in the North of England. However as of right now, there is no Wirtz, Musiala, Haaland quality player that City would have a clear pathway to signing.

However much you try to reassure your insecure self about City's transfer policies and prospects, you're still not winning the league. Neither are we, but after winning six out of the last seven then I can take it on the chin. How does it feel to completely build a squad over a five-year period at a cost of nearly £1bn only to miss out to Arne Slot in his first season with a £13m spend?

Except that Musiala has refused to sign a new contract so far and his current one finishes in 2026, so if he doesn't sign before summer, they will definitely entertain bids. And don't believe anything you hear about what a player wants or is 'likely' to do until the ink is dry. I'm sure the club will know whether or not it's possible to get certain players. But the point wasn't about those two players in particular, just that that is the calibre of player we should be going for and are capable of getting.
