Monaco - Post Match thread.

Pep is trying to implement his style. We are going to play that way win, lose or draw.
He won't do pragmatism. He will keep with his same way of working until the players get it. If they
don't, they go and he gets players that do.

I don't understand why no-one sees the flaws in this.

He has been back in training for a week or so following an injury in training, there is no conspiracy going on,until pep can be confident he can play a full game he won't be playing,it's that simple

I never said there was a conspiracy...Pep had him training for 4-5 weeks last time (before he got injured in training - a slight injury according to what Pep said). He even traveled with the squad but didnt play in the huddersfield match....yet neither over the 4-5 weeks when he was fit did he play bar once and since then nothing.

Ive suggested before that I hope its cause Pep thniks its cause he cant trust Kompany not pulling up again...thats the only viable reason in my mind cause if he is fit he should be playing.....our defensive displays alone this season prove that!

I don't understand why no-one sees the flaws in this.
It is simple.

Pep believes he has a formula for winning a very, very high percentage of the games he plays, and thus winning trophies. That formula means possession (denying the opposition the ball to harm you) and players with the technical ability to pass, move, control & finally score. The problem has been more the "score" than anything else, because the chances have been plentiful.

Clearly, he needs some additions at the back, but the defense has not been as bad as everyone seems to think, especially recently. That said, world class reinforcements at the back would better allow the forwards...all five or six of them...to trust that every counter attack isn't going to result in a goal or goalmouth scramble.

bloody hell 1200 posts is that a record for a post match thread ? Not had the sheer joy reading the posts but my take is the players were not brave enough , they were overrawed by some young aggressive but naive players and the massive 18,000 crowd , now look at our players and ask yourself should that ever happen . You can blame Pep's team selection Yaya should have started instead of KDB because our kev has'nt played well since xmas whilst Yaya has dictated our games in that period.
The players let Pep and the supporters down , because when they decided to show some balls after Pep's "teamtalk" we dominated Monaco , too little too late against top european teams , so 100% the players fault for one of the most disappointing results since the Sheik arrived.
Hopefully players will show some desire for 90 minutes and take their angst out against the Dippers on Sunday , if they don't it's time to for a rebuild with younger hungry players like Garcia , Roberts , Zinchenko , and a couple of top european prospects , (and a domineering leader at centre back who can stay fit) who have'nt seen it all and done it all.

This thread is testament to how footballing values have become totally warped by silly money.

Strip out the verbiage and we're saying we need another £200m/£300m to outdo ragged-arsed teams like Monaco (and Leicester City).

And then we say "let's raid the fcukers of their talent". Why? Because we're minted and can't bring on our own youngsters or motivate our own millionaires or organise a defence. Don't blame the boss though. It's not "his" team until he's spent hundreds of millions.

Then finally we win a trophy (hopefully) and pay homage to the best shopper manager in the world.

This isn't a go specifically at Pep. But it's symptomatic of our club and several others.

I love shiny new toys, and it works for Chelsea. I'm sick of those cockney cünts spending wisely and winning stuff while we spend the same and end up with some decent and some shite. I've had a taste of winning stuff and want lots more after years of putting up with the vile rag scum hoovering up everything going while we played Macc Town.

Fuck morals, fuck ethics, fuck shitty little teams full of pricks like Vardy, we should be dominating with the players we have and should have been for the last 5 seasons but we've seriously underachieved, partly through too many average or weak-willed signings.

Should stop fucking about with 'ok/decent' players and just shit on everyone and buy Alaba, Dele Alli, Bale and players of that ilk.

We do have some youngsters who might be ready to supplement?

More quality than quantity is what's now needed.

New first-choice keeper. EDERSON

Two new full-backs. MENDY-FABINIO

Two central defenders (one who can cover the left hand side.) LAPORTE-HERNANDEZ

One central midfielder to replace Yaya. ISCO

One attacker/wide man to replace Nolito/Navas/Aguero. MBAPPE

Mbappe would be my preference for the last requirement.

That's around £280m with sales we are looking at £200m net.

We may see Aguero & Isco swap with Sergios wages making up the difference.
Ederson £45m
Laporte £50m
Hernandez £25m
Mendy & Fabinio combined 60m
Mbappa £50m

Still in Monaco and still p#@+&d off.
Should have started Ya Ya it was crying out for him.
City let the fans down last night and skulked off down the tunnel without even an acknowledgement. Only John Stones made any effort and gave his shirt to a supporter - totally unacceptable when we've trudged across Europe to get behind them. We might as well have not been there. When we win they love us. Forget the FA Cup as well. No silverware this season.
