Monaco - Post Match thread.

I don't often post so apologies if already written. We know it, Pep knows it, the players know it and every decent team we play know it.

Our defence is gash, without YaYa we have a midfield who struggle to get a tackle in, win possession or play intelligently when we are under the cosh and finally we need 5 chances to score. I'm not a moaner or a player/pep bashed but wholesale changes needed in the summer. I appreciate I have high expectations but hey so I should seeing as my season ticket has nearly doubled in the past 2 years so much so I moved from the Colin bell to the south stand but the last two years really feels like we have been treading water.

Safe trip home blue boys, have a pint to drown your sorrows and stay safe.

Difficult to know what aspect of our performance I most annoyed with. Inability to defend a cross? Poor final ball? Lazy flicks to no-one? The uselessness of our FBs when they had the ball? Poor finishing? Poor set pieces?

Lost that game in the first half really. Absolutely piss weak in midfield and KDB/Silva did absolutely nothing to affect the game.

De Bruyne is a brilliant player and seems like a decent guy but he needs to step up in some of these bigger games. Goes missing way too often and goes into the 50/50 balls a bit half heartedly. Silva improved a little in the second half but also seemed way off the pace.

Sterling and Sane were a bit more lively but Sterling didn't have a great game at all. Aguero missed a couple of decent chances but it felt like for a lot of that game the midfield just wasn't doing enough to bring the front three into the game.

A slight plus point is that despite us conceding three goals, i thought the two CBs had a decent game.

Finally, WHY defend the free kick for the third goal in that way? Just doesn't make sense to me to invite them to put an inswinger in like that!

We're just not good enough to compete at the business end of a tournament like this. Hopefully we'll at least give the FA Cup a serious go now as it'd be a great year to win it given the calibre of teams left in it now. Will be interesting to see how Monaco progress, they have some pretty decent players in that team.

Stones apart, the defence is shit which we know cannot be corrected until the summer. Best team won over the 2 legs. Time to focus on securing top four and maybe a cup final

Never understand the high line on a free kick like that. Invitation to drop it on the penalty spot. All players running back towards the goal. What are defenders meant to do. Even if they win it the best they are likely to do is give away a corner.

Without stating the bleeding obvious, conceding 6 goals in a 2 legged game was not the best idea we've had.

truly awful.

the Belgium is the new megson. Been shit for weeks now.

poor pep, summer can't come soon enough.

at least we won't get embarrassed by Leicester and won't play in the week before the semi.

v poor.

I'm sad.

Where do you start ? Lost to a better team in the first 45 when we never got going. Better second half but Aguero not at it in front of goal. Really disappointed with all of SIlva, De Bruyne and Fernandinho. New dominant CM needed for next season. How Yaya never got on is baffling. Expect the Dippers to come at us hard and fast on Sunday just like Monaco did. De Bruyne's starting spot must be in doubt after recent weeks.
