Monaco post match

Thought yellows were wiped after this round?
Nope, they're wiped after the quarter finals, they brought that change in back in 2014 as too many players were missing the final through suspension (back then you could be booked on matchday 1 of the group stage and the second leg of the semi final and miss the final through suspension).

They really should wipe them after the group stages as well - the groups and knock outs are basically 2 separate tournaments.

So if we qualify for the next round those players have to see out 3 matches without a booking to have their totals wiped. We could lose Zaba (Sagna), Otamendi (Kolarov) or Fernandinho (Kolarov, Clichy, Yaya depending on role) although if we lose more than 1 it could leave us stretched/lacking in quality.
Losing Aguero or Sterling doesn't really bear thinking about - Nacho is out of form and low on confidence - hopefully this will change in the cup games and Sterling is absolutely vital to how we play at the moment, we'll be far more susceptible to the high press without the threat of the pace in behind of both Raz and Sané to keep teams forced back and we'll have far less space for Aguero/Silva/KDB to operate in when we do get the ball forwards.

Don't go there Ric, I've only just managed to calm down.

Watched the game back last night and the referee looked absolutely terrified.
I thought this also. Mind you he was watching Sane and Raz bombing one way then Falcao and Mbeppe the other thinking "how the fuck am I supposed to keep up with these fuckers"

Don't completely agree with that, if he's not sure he should ask the official who is stood near the goal for that purpose, just like he did for the Falcao incident. He was so quick to make his decision and so happy to show that yellow, didn't have time to do anything else.
Correct. It was the speed of the card decision which revealed the deceit.
