On reflection, this is actually turning out to be quite funny, after all.
Correct me if I've missed anything.
The entire point?
When I wrote "you", did you think that I was specifically talking about you the person? Do you see what I mean about adherence to some rigid and pointless form of semantic argument?
If I have to put in big brackets every time I use analogy, metaphor, or rhetoric in a post and can't trust people to connect the dots themselves then we're in even worse state than I thought. I trust the intelligence of other posters to see the implications of what I write in good faith and see the wider argument being made. You want to argue based on literal interpretation of wording, ignoring the wider issues.
You asked "are you alright". I said "I'm frustrated by overly literal interpretations of arguments, mass partisanship and lack of depth in political thought". Then you said "hold on, I didn't ask you that, are you sure you're alright?".
To add to the list of games I refuse to play, we can put "having to be so literal in every single sentence rather than using rhetorical techniques because you presume everybody else is too stupid to follow the train of logic in your post" right next to the outrage one. I'll presume people can join dots.
