I own a Mercedes (if you think I'm a c*nt, then you are probably correct), so that's out of the way.
I took it in for a 'b service' so it's the major 2 yearly one, I dropped it into mercedes Stockport on Friday morning, and spoke to the contact there and left my keys with them.
I got a call later on to say that it's all done, and the cost details. Normal price £440.59.
So drove it away feeling satisfied that everything was sorted.
Saturday morning I was doing about 80mph on the M60, and all of a sudden I heard a loud bang and started to loose control of my car, and heading towards the barriers, of course my arse fell out, and somehow managed to get on to the hard shoulder and have a look at my car. All tyres intact, so I looked under the car and saw the belly pan of the car all mangled and trapped (I'm knelt in the rain in the hard shoulder with lorries thundering past)
I managed to drive the car 250yrds to the next junction and pulled it free.
I drove straight to the dealership and threw it on the floor demanding to see the manager.
The car was put on the ramps and inspected. The service manager said it looked like it hadn't been secured correctly on the service, and another will be ordered because mine was fucked, and fitted "free of charge" on Wednesday.
Now the problem is this: do I just accept it as a bit of a fuck up and accept their apologies,
or do I take it further and seek recourse?
My wife thinks they are "c*nts" and we should take it as far as we can, the "cheeky bastards"... Suggestions please, because the dealer principle will be contacting me tomorrow, nice one.

You could have been in a serious fucking accident due to their laziness/incompetence, you have every right to look for compensation on top.

Can't see any dilemma here. Their negligence could have had serious consequences for you. You should be nailing them to the floor.
You know me col, easy going, nothing really bothers me too much, but everybody makes mistakes, so I was just gonna let it go, but make a mental note of not having it done again on a Friday afternoon :(

OP I agree with previous comments.

You are a ****.

Go to the GP and plead PTSD, and maybe sue the cunts for messing up your head (even more than it already was)

It's a bit more serious though. You were put in danger, and maybe even your family. If you don't hold them responsible then it could happen to someone else, and they may not be as lucky as you. I'd get something sent to Mercedes head office in the UK. You may be laid back, but if you have a good think about this, the consequences could have been a lot worse.

Not sure what the moral dilemma is to be honest? You could have died and fitting a part free of charge isn't good enough, they've admitted liability; fuck them over.

Take them to the fucking cleaners. You could have fucking died.

You should be making a formal complaint to Mercedes UK at the very least and get them to investigate. The dealer will be desperate to hush it up I'd imagine but you can play that to your advantage.
No real point going to the manufacturer about a dealer based issue.

Mercedes will normally write back advising that as the contract of sale is with the dealer, then there is little they can do.

Like most manufacturers, Mercedes UK are responsible for importing the vehicles and supplying parts to their franchised dealerships, which are separate business entities.

They will keep note of your complaint on file and may discuss it with the dealer at the next franchise review, but as long as the dealership can demonstrate they acknowledged their error and suitably recompensed their customer, Merc UK won't take it further.

I know it could've been a lot worse, and I understand that, but other than a change of underpants it's all ok.
Yet my wife hit the fucking roof and wants to "sue the c*nts"
I've sent a text to a friend of mine who works in the legal profession but he can't be arsed replying (Not mentioning names :GDM :-)

You actually have a moral duty to make them pay out as much as possible, the next customer might not be so lucky(and I also have a merc). I would be taking pics and seriously thinking about going to the press with this too.
N.B. Rather than going to a dealership I can put you onto an excellent Merc garage i have used for years.

What is it you would be suing them for? It's not really a moral dilemma, just asking for peoples opinions as to what step, if any, to take next.

They've offer to fix it without question so have they a duty to do anything else? I would however ask if they intend to offer some form of compensation such as a free service or a nice coat - save you going to the MEN, Auto Express and writing to Mercedes UK ;-)

Mercedes will contact you anyway for feedback and score on your last visit.they always ring a week after a service and the dealership always ask to rate them as a 10.Obviously this wont be happening in your case. Mercedes HO will not be happy with this poor service and the dealership will know about it.Let the principal know this when they contact you.
I would ask for full refund for service as you did not get what you paid for and also free service for next service or for as long as you have the vehicle.
