Heard anything from the dealership yet?
Got a call about an hour ago from the "after sales manager", just confirming that an investigation has been launched, and the technician has been made aware of the situation, the replacement part has been ordered and I'm invited in to see him on Friday afternoon... So here is the dilemma, potentially the mechanic possibly might get the boot depending on how far I push it :-$Pelly Greeny said:Heard anything from the dealership yet?

If the mechanic involved did this to your car, what's to say that he's not done the same to others?
If you were on the M60 maybe you could see if HA have some footage of the incident, that would make Mercedes squirm if you had that to hand.

Pretty sure HA won't just let you have it - data protection act - you'd have to go through a solicitor.
I think a lot of people are being a bit OTT with this - someone forgot to tighten up some bolts and a belly pan came off. Nobody was hurt, nothing was badly damaged and the dealers are replacing it and speaking to the owner about it.
I know someone could have been hurt but you could say that about a waitress spilling coffee - I COULD have slipped and fallen on a glass and severed my artery and bled to death. As it was I stepped in it and nothing serious happened - but I'm going to kick up a fuss and see what compensation I can get.
It was a mistake, get it sorted and see if they offer you a bit of something to make up for the time you've spent messing about and the upset it caused.

Went into the dealership yesterday for a meeting with the "after sales manager". Spoke at length about what went wrong, how it probably happened etc, and he said he'd interviewed the technician, who ended up getting disciplined (not sacked, so that's very good), he said that as a way of apologising, he'd like to make me a good will gesture of a discount on my next service. I started to laugh asking why would you think I'd come back?
Anyway, the conversation continued (my car was on the ramps at this point) and after an hour or so managed to convince him that, 2 new rear tyres (about 300)would be nice and I've also lost my spare key, so a replacement (approx 290) and a valet, would seal the deal, and I wouldn't pursue the matter any further.
I thought I'd push it a bit knowing the guy kept his job :)
What do you think then? Good deal? Bad deal?
